    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Thanks Joe, can't say I am that keen for the price. Talking of cost, I recall those VW parts being very expensive. Had to go a couple of times when Dad was at work to pick up bits from a VW dealer at Plaistow

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Finished my little Mazda Micro car. so a space in my stash of six opened up again. Went for this VW T1 bus, we actually had one of these when I was a youngster and in that colour too. Can't remember lots about it, but recall the side opening hinged doors and the reg was BP with four numbers It...

    Airbrushing Chrome Liquid

i am going to try over a Black primer and on its own. Mainly want it for things like badges and hub caps, my models are not of nice shiny vehicles.

    Airbrushing Chrome Liquid

Just bought a cheapo airbrush from Amazon and a bottle of DSPIAE Silver Chrome marker refill. Seen good things about this stuff and hoping to use it for the Chrome parts on my upcoming car builds. Also got a bottle of 99.9% IPA from my local hardware shop for cleaning purposes. Been using an AK...

    Amazon Policy Change

Just had an Amazon delivery and the driver kindly mentioned a policy change. In future they will leave any parcels in your designated safe place without attempting to knock/ring at the door. This is to save time so they can give more drops to their drivers. Be warned if you designate a safe...

To paint or not to paint

Opposite for me, not so keen on the building, but really enjoy the painting. Need to clarify that last bit, airbrush great fun, brush not much at all. Each to their own and as mentioned above its the enjoyment factor that matters.

    Tamiya 1/12 CBR1000RR-R

That looks superb Andy, hard to distinguish it from the real machine. I have never attempted a motorcycle and after seeing yours don't think I will now. No way I could attain that sort of realism, i'll stick to older non shiny vehicles

    I THINK IT'S TIME ?

I just sold one of those, it was an Iwata HP-SB. Yes they are bottom feed unless the larger gravity cup is used. Gravity Cup For the OP, another good choice is one of the Mr Hobby/Procon Boy airbrushes. Many parts are interchangeable with Iwata, check out their Platinum PS-289 with a 0.3 needle

    I THINK IT'S TIME ?

A lot of side cup models are also suction fed. There is also a larger gravity style cup that you can buy for them..

    I THINK IT'S TIME ?

A compressor I do have one with a tank, but recently sold my tankless Smart Jet Pro, no issues with pulsing and kept my original Sprint jet as a back up. Sparmax do a good range, recently got their 610H as a present from my wife. -Airbrush (0.3mm nozzle is a good allround size. Smaller ones...

May go dark for a little while

They said the way it was broken meant it was a prime candidate for repair. The wearing out factor was explained and bone on bone is always the preferable choice. Repair went well, but my wife was only just getting back to full strength after chemo and surgery.

May go dark for a little while

Glad to hear its going well Tim, just make sure you do the exercises to build up the muscles and soft tissue. My wife fell down the last two steps of our stairs and fractured her hip. They considered her too young for a replacement (might live long enough for it to wear out) Instead she had a...

    Vinyl Cutter for Mask Making

Has anyone used a Vinyl Cutter like the Silhouette or Cricut machines for making masks or stencils? My wife uses masks for her linocut printing and I do too mainly for clear parts such as windows. Look like these gadgets may be just the job, but any first hand experience information would be...

Vent: I made a model plane that was really crap

I had one recently that was a real POS, overly soft plastic that become a molten blob when shown any cement. Every locating hole needed drilling out or at least the ones that were in the right place did. Life is too short for all that mucking about so into the Grey wheelie bin it went.

    Workbench, show us yours

Maybe i'm going bonkers, but I can't see a monitor at the back?

    Tidy, tidy, tidy 😀

Its a good effort, but not quite minimalistic enough for me. Those bottles/jars on the right need a proper home and a paper roll holder would be handy too. Like the taped down paper, my wife uses lining paper for her desk when she is linocut printing.

    back to work

I retired a couple of months shy of 55, intended to leave at 58, but an early leaver package tempted me. Been twelve years now and no regrets whatsoever, don't know how I ever found time to go to work.
