    Making aerials from sprues...

Instead of using an open flame to heat the sprue, has anybody "ever tried" using a 100 watt light bulb to softer the sprue, much easier and a lot safer ? Just hold the sprue over the light bulb to get it to heat up the sprue. No nasty burns from the flame and you actually use two hands to hold...

    SCRATCHBUILT CANNON

I'll agree with that statement of --- not enough power ---- eventually chucked out the 240 volt AC motor that came with the lathe. Converted the lathe to a 24 volt DC motor, --- it now has the balls to cut steel easily. OK, you can not take 2mm depth cuts in steel with severe powered driven...

    SCRATCHBUILT CANNON

Here’s a Scratchbuilt miniature Cannon, this is meant to be a British 9lb Cannon, but looks suspiciously like a Napoleonic Cannon though. Saw the drawing for this little Cannon in the Model Engineer ( English publication ) can’t remember the date it was printed, but it was about 30 yrs odd...

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

Oh, here's something I swiped of the web many many moons ago, so CAN NOT accredit it to any person, alive or deceased. Please remember that this is very old and written by a yank, I can not attribute if the pricing is still the same, bet it aint though. If your favourite glue is mentioned...

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

Here is some thing that might be a bit controversial to some persons. Why pay for a small amount of branded liquid glue for way more money, than what a bulk lot of virtually the same stuff actually costs. Coming from Australia, the price of brand name liquid glues is just CRAZY, when compared...

    1/16th scale Kenworth W 924 S.A.R. , 2 x dolly and 4 x 4 low loader

Started making this model about 1987 and took approx 4 yrs before it was finished, had a couple of house moves in that period, so was not able to just keep at it to finish the model. Used this vehicle as inspiration for the model, tried to do a miniature version of the full sized vehicle, BUT...

Here's a bit more about the Road Boss, a list of things changed, borrowed or scratch built to get it to look correct. Plus a pic of the Transformer, when I arrived at the Adelaide Electricity Commision depot. Got a bit of a story about that load, but don't know if anybody on here would be...

    1 / 25th scale WHITE Road Boss

Managed to get a job as a driver at Brambles Heavy Haulage Depot at Hendra, Qld and what a job it was. They gave me a brand new White Road Boss and a new Allison 3 row of 4 low loader, to drag around all over Australia for just on 5 yrs. Saw ALL of Australia and had quite a few laughs and quite...

    Pin stripes

Oh, if you are after pinstriping as a waterslade decal, look on Ebay for waterslide decals, you can get sheets of decals with plenty of different thickness stripes, just look for Truck Decals. DO NOT USE ACRYLIC/VINYL DECALS, as they are far to thick for anything other than a full sized 'billy...
