    Dspiae mini cordless (USB) Grinder

Had this for a few days (maybe couple of weeks) now. I am a total Dspiae fanboy and make no excuses for that. IMHO they make good gear at a reasonable cost. I have uploaded a short YT video of my first impressions of this grinder, see linky below: YT video of Dspiae grinder It seems well made of...

Dspiae Orbit mini Drill/ Screwdriver (cordless USB)

Just picked one of these up, looks a nice bit of kit, very well made, good quality. Here's a link to a short first impressions type video, see linky: YT video Dspiae Orbit Drill Its slow speed is great for the type of plastic we use in scale modelling, so it will not heat up and will not melt...

Evolution of a model making desk/area....

Amazon, £15 for 2, so £30 for the four. I wanted a specific size, these are 300(W)x130(D)x85(H). They are a sturdy 5mm thick. Loads out there via ebay, amazon, temu, ali express, etc, but only amazon had the size I wanted at a reasonable price. Some are thinner, eg: 3mm thick and some are...

Evolution of a model making desk/area....

Acrylic shelf risers have now been delivered, and has effectively (almost) doubled the shelf space as I can now stack stuff on top. This means I can actually get all my remaining little dioramas on the shelf as well, rather than having them all around my model making area, cluttering up space...

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

My latest Dspiae toy, Lol.... The Dspiae Orbit Electric (cordless) drill. Lovely bit of kit, slow speed, so will not melt the plastic, etc. Runs forwards and backwards. Rechargeable via usb. Although its a "drill" you could also attach screwdriver bits, drill bits, sanding and grinding...

AFV Club, Tiger I, Panzerkampfwagen VI, 1:48

This mornings little update.... Gloss coated last night, so its had a good few hours to harden....Ready for decals.... I left off the left hand side towing chain/rope/cable, which normally is secured above the side track plate, as one of the decals needs to go under the chain. Decals went on...

Tracks are now on, always a little sigh of relief when it's those horrid rubber things! Have also now added the nicely detailed towing cables and pioneer tools. I've got a reasonable technique for these tracks now. I always CA them, don't use TET, don't use Revell adhesive, don't heat them...

Evolution of a model making desk/area....

Just ordered x4 clear acrylic shelf risers, so that will roughly double the shelf space too, so I can stack models/dioramas on top of each other, space eh, never enough is there? ;):)

Evolution of a model making desk/area....

Have freed up a bit of space in the study / model making area now, moved a small sofa bed out of this room into another room, so has given me a bit more space. I had one shelf with completed models on it, but that's full, so have just installed new second shelf. So we now have two "Shelf of...

Well, there you go, as advised above, by @minitnkr I did indeed put the bloody turret mantlet on the wrong way round [Doh!] I'm sure I double checked it as well, but I did not look at the box art which clearly shows the correct way round. I think the instructions have a couple of illustrations...

AFV Club, Tiger I, Panzerkampfwagen VI, 1:48

Bit more progress, gaps filled around exhaust baffles (after they were cut and turned round the right way, Doh!) All wheels now on. Did a bit of dry brushing on the exhausts to give a rusty look. Rear exhaust / baffle covers now on. Gotta think about putting the tracks on, probably tomorrow...

Not done much today, other things on, etc... But did manage to sort out the rear exhaust baffles, they were well attached, so rather than also remove the actual exhaust pipes, I cut the join and levered off the baffles. Cleaned them up, the re-attached but now the correct way round! Will need...

Some cheap second hand scale models - TJD Model shop (Sutton at Hone)

Went in the above shop today, see linky below: They had two large boxes of second hand kits for sale, quite cheap. Maybe 50 kits or so? I think maybe someone local had passed away and they were selling off the collection. Unfortunately they had nothing that appealed to me, it was mostly planes...

Made a bit of progress, the main chassis and turret build is mostly done now, just need to add the wheels and tracks and some pioneer tools, etc to add. Rear exhaust added (2nd pipes) and little gap filled. Started the first top coat sand/dark yellow.... as with all brush painting, first coat...
