Peter.
Glad you changed the first head, he looked odd to me, this one is more natural looking.
Mind you I might be odd for that matter ! :flushed:

Mick - Thanks for sticking around!

John - Glad you approve of the head change. I'd look damn stupid in a Roman helmet myself.

This is rapidly changing in my mind to a Romano British chieftain of the C5th / C6th. A post Roman of some northern kingdom like King Arthur.

Bravo for keeping with this one. He could perhaps be Bernard Cornwell's Uhtred of Bebbanberg.

Cheers John. The kit still hasn't arrived so I've also started a bust.

Two heads are better than one! Heading in the right direction now.

I will go back to my cell now. Matron!!

Morning Peter

2 blogs at once, and both with super heads.

Hopefully the Body will arrive soon.

Its all heads at the moment

Off to find your other figure

Have a good day

Regards

Yes Peter, two blogs !
Will you continue to do both if the body arrives ?
Can't have you sitting about for too long with nothing to paint. Of course there's all ways some thing in the garden I'm sure that Mrs Day would like doing !
Bye.:smiling:
John.

Hi chaps - Sorry, I didn't see your posts before now. Yep, two blogs on the go at once - whatever next?(not gardening!).

The kit finally arrived:

Sorry about the blurry sprue shot. All nicely sculpted and moulded like the Viking before it. I decided to abandon the kit arms which had areas of wrinkly skin showing and were at the wrong angle anyway, and instead used some from the Verlinden Eastern European Viking kit (the left arm fits over the shield I've used):

Still a little cleaning up to do, but I think it will work. Off to get the train now (Granddad stuff).

Hi Peter.
Must say that "skirt " gives him a real Japanese look .

Went off to search about them, no doubt have seen this.

Going to be great to see your take on this if I'm right.

Picture for discussion purposes only .

Hi John

There always seems to be a strong Japanese influence in programmes like 'Game of Thrones' (home of the original figure). I don't think this get-up is too dissimilar to some Dark Age armours. I'm going to paint the kilt and leggings as leather, possibly coloured, and the cuirass and shoulder armour as leather studded with bronze plates. It's only meant to be a bit of fun anyway, so it doesn't matter to me how 'accurate' it is.

Peter I wasn't attempting to suggest you should follow those pics by any means, more that I had got the Varangian part right.

I know John, sorry if I miscommunicated. After a long journey to Lewes - cancelled train, missed connection etc.....
