1/35 TAMIYA StuG 1V

Evening Mr Race, The T34 and StuG look good under a coat of primer 👍

I must admit to liking Tamiya paints and Mr Hobby primers however I’ve recently been using VMS acrylic primer and find it very smooth
Evening Si , hope you and the family are well . Thanks for commenting.VMS, is that the ready to spray product?

That's a much smoother paint job John, very nice. I still use acrylics and enamels occasionally, but for me the ease of Tamiya and Mr Color paints makes the process a much more pleasant experience. I also use a HP-CS, a great piece of equipment which is like the Toyota Hilux of the airbrush world. You can't really go wrong with it.
Hi Joe, yes, I've kept all my acrylics, will use them for figures and buildings. Love that AB, so precise.

Iwata are the best in my opinion. I have a top of the range H&S and two decent pistol grips but my Iwata is the best by far.
Primer looks lovely and smooth.
Thoughts are with you and Christine at such a difficult time.

Thanks Jim, can't belive how good it is. The H& S sit in the drawer since I managed to mess up those nozzles just before H&S started to put the rings on them.
I appreciate your thoughts, re Christine.

Today saw the start of the painting. Using XF-60 a dark yellow . Will spray a second coat of XF - 88 dark yellow to do the highlights.

Sprayed at a low setting of 12 to 15 psi and a mix of 2 to 1 using Mr Colour Thinners.

Noticed a bit missing on the bike, will do that bit in XF-88.

I use mainly Tamiya acrylics and a few lacquer and find them pretty bullet proof but not painting at the moment due to 37 degree heat.

Thanks, makes such a difference with this paint. Its only taken me 10 years to change !
Welcome to the dark side John. Finally 😂

I think I went from spending at least half of my time stripping & cleaning the airbrush, to actually being able to concentrate on the spraying, rather than than worrying about when the next clog would come.

Indeed Andy, oh yes a complete game changer. I used to spray with a HVLP System when I was in the work shop. Used laqucers then. Why did I ever bother with the attempt to spray acrylics when I started modelling? I'll never know.

Just used the XF -20 to do the concrete blocks, allowed some of the overspray to land on the decking as the crew applied the concrete blocks in the field and used a wooden box frame to apply.

Also used a lighter dark yellow to highlight the upper surfaces, but doesn't appear to have changed the look?

Lots have been done, but it's the drying time before you can do the next paint part.
Now waiting for 24 hrs for the X22 Gloss to fully dry before attempting an oil wash.

The cover over the gun happened becuse there was a large blob with paint, kept the ab still too long !

Haven't gone over the top on the camo, the rubber tracks were a bit of a sod to get into place, should have stretched them, join hidden at the top .

I started to do some pigments , then decided oils would be better.

That cover, used so VMS paper shaper, think it must be old and I should have used it on bare plastic to begin with as it wanted to lift and effect the paint. Still a little ca and hope it looks ok.?

The next stage will be the oils, will be looking at Utune for ideas, Steve Jones esp !

Enjoy the afternoon.

John.
