Andy, that rad. is a true work of art. Amazing stuff....

Your mum will, not would, be proud of the effort ' her lad' is putting into this superb build, 'cos rest assured she will be at your side when the big day comes.

Thanks Ron for your kind words. Recieving comments like this and the reason im building it... makes me feel so happy and at ease. Building this project is a real joy.

Cheers

No problem Andy, whether people believe it or not doesn't matter a jot. There can be no finer reason for building this than as a memorial to 'The Old Dutch'

Comparing those two pictures just makes your work all the more impressive.

B.T.W., like Steve I might not be posting regularily on your build but I'm sure as heck following every phase!

Cheers,

Ron

Thanks again Ron. I will take a break tomorrow and go to the Model Air Show at Weston Park, a day never to miss.

After returning from Weston today i decided to add the finishing touches to the rad, already to paint now when the paint comes i ordered 4 weeks ago. I have added the black back ground to the face that is located behing the rad, this tones down the mesh.

The bottom section of the rad has a fly wheel of some description and a couple of air inlets.

The trafalite labes i had made came earlier in the week, here they are sitting in their correct spots. You will see the name 'The Old Dutch' on the I.D Plate above the compas.

And finally a sneakpreview of the dash temp located in its rightful position.

Sorry about the double image.

Cheers

Andy

My omly question is what on earth are you going to do that could possibly top this?!

Simply stunning work Andy.

Thanks Ian. My next project is a 1/4 scale Tiger Moth. It wont come anywhere near the finish of this one as the SE5a has some amazing scale detail. This is the reason i chose this model and not the Moth for moms tribute. The idea is for people to marvel over the final result and every compliment recieved will be in true memory of a wonderful mother, knowing that i have put my all into this build. Thats my plan anyway, wether it works or not doesn't matter too much. Just having something so beutiful, so pleasing and meaning full and to sit and admire for many years to come, knowing that i built her with all the care love and affection that i cherish so much for The Old Dutch bless her!!

The saga of the Vickers Gun continues. Last seen in Mineesota (i think that how you spell it) on the 27/05/11 and has never been seen again. Typical because i am desperate for it to continue the cockpit build. I decided today to re order another with full tracking, if the other comes i can use it on the Tiger Moth i think. Anyway i decided to carry on with the front section and did a little more metal work as you can see.

As you can see, i cut an oblong opening at the front. This will have a removable hatch to allow access to the lower engine fixings if needed.

Great stuff Andy, you are really going to town on this one and it shows.

I used to work for a diminutive pop star from Minneapolis and spent many months there. I reckon your machine gun went missing in Minnesota!

Hi Andy

I've just caught up with your thread and the updates and this is truly jaw dropping stuff. Looks absolutely terrific. Can't wait to see the completed piece and a great tribute.

All the best and I hope the vickers turns up soon.
