I am thinking of getting the old man a hurricane kit for his birthday he's a bit of a scale perfectionist so can someone recommend a good accurate 1/48 kit please.

Dave

I've heard many good things about the airfix new-tool one. I recently built the new-tool spitfire at that scale, and it was first class! I have a big picture of the Duxford VB spitfire, and the airfix kit looks absolutely identical, so me reason to suspect that the Hurri is any different!

+1 for the new Airfix kit. Those who know more than me about Hurricanes all seem to like it.

Cheers

I got the tamiya one which is a reboxed italeri the cockpit layout is completely wrong the seat is so close to the instrument panel there is hardly room for the joy stick and mine had very warped fuselage sides so I have to say give the airfix one a go (never thought I would say airfix better than tamiya) lol

Ive built old airfix, italeri and have the new Airfix in my stash. The new Airfix kit is easily the best of the three.

That sounds like the definitive answer to me. I built the Italeri one some years ago. It's nice, but doubted the price was worth it.

Yep airfix new tool, I picked one up for about £17 I think, you might find it cheaper.

It's pretty accurate by all accounts the sprues and clear parts are all very nice with no flash that I noticed. Instructions look clear and similar to eduards in a way with colour codes and paint schemes.

No brainer mate, looking forward to doing mine... Probably in about a year at my rate!
