Nice progress mate. I have never flown the Jug, it still sits in the workshop ready to fly. I did sell the B25 but haven't heard how it got on in the air yet. I must follow it up. Keep up the good work.

I've moved onto the wings while I wait for the tail wheel assembly to arrive. The #3&4 ribs are laminated with ply to support the gear
The spars are hard balsa with a doubler running until rib #8
The rest of the ribs are mounted square with the exception of rib 1 that is angled to set the dihedral
The dry fit of the fin and stab looks promising ,the angles are nice and square
Hoping to score some servos soon and will tackle the split flaps next.

Nice build! I built a Top Flite Piper Cub a few years back, remember being amazed at the quality of the kit, compared to many UK ones!

Finally able to get in some build time! Starting to tackle the split flaps
the ribs that in the flap bay have to be cut in half,what a pita!
Also got the Ailreon servo mounting blocks in ,as stated earlier I wo'nt be using the bellcrank system
Still have'nt got the tail retrac unit so may have to start on something else for a while

Ooooooo I feel a major purchase coming on!!!!
This looks magnificent and is seriously tempting me into the RC aircraft world (having never flown one though, I may crash it straight into the nearest tree/lake/car etc etc)
That aside I've always liked working with wood and getting the mechanicals and electronics working, it is something that really appeals.
That build so far looks outstanding and I will be definitely watching this progress.

Paul thanks! No need to crash! You can get one of the new 'Safe' trainers they have out to learn on ,it has a panic button feature that returns it to level flight !

Well more bad news the retracts are on back order! I'm working around that as much as possible. Got the wings joined and will start fitting the flap & aileron servos before sheeting

Sorry Trey just caught this one and I have to say it is looking mighty fine mate. Nice to see something other than plastic being played with.
I know nothing at all about flying models but I recognize craftsmanship when I see it. Can't wait to see it all painted up.
Looking real good Trey , as Ian and a lot of other people have said its very tempting to have a go at something like this (note. when i say like this I mean something a lot smaler and easier!!!LOL!!) In fact i was toying with the idea of doing one of the west wings jobbies but as a static model and entering into the 1/24 GB , you can get a few in this scale . cheers tony

Seriously? What a brilliant idea! In my day it was quickly handing the transmitter to your tutor in the vain hope that they could rescue it in time! I'm gathering you have plenty flying hours, that beauty is gonna be a challenge to the less experienced (this from a muppet who started on helicopters...I did learn to fly them, but it wasn't the relaxing hobby I'd planned for, so I traded it in for a 6' span Piper Cub!). Watching this thread makes me a bit misty eyed for those days!\ said:

Terry , Mike, Ryan, Paul thanks. John thanks! They now have a cordless 'buddy' box of all things to train with! Yea been down the Heli route myself and traded my Blade 500 3D for the P-40 coming together now. Gotta a giant scale Cub as well on floats its a nice break from the faster stuff.
Still waiting for the retrac's ! I went a different route with the Ailerons ,decided to save weight and use the bellcrank and 1 servo set up. Also going with a 1 servo cable system for the flaps to save more weight as well. Did some more fine sanding on the Fuse and set the wings under it just for a photo . Hope the gear gets here soon would like to skin this wing before the wood dry rots!
