Thanks guys. It took me a few hours to clean up the mess after lightly sanding the affected areas, but a few hours after the new gloss varnish, there is little to no evidence of the cock up. There are advantages to using enamel paints, they are pretty tough and I didn't need to do any touch ups. Tomorrow I'll get a new flat coat on, paint the navigation lights which will conclude the build

I feel your pain. I hate having to do a job twice. However, every cloud and all that. When I have to repair a section of paint work, I always think it can off a bit of realism. Maybe the real aircraft was re-painted in this area ?
