Hello all,

I think I'm calling this one finished; there 's a lot of learning points I've taken from it, mainly around painting. I've used oil paints and panel line accentors properly for the first time to give the Maus and the building a worn look, and to bring out more of the detail on the figures. There's a lot of custom additions to the Maus, namely the stowage, unditching beams, tow rope, ladder, commander's MG42, barrel netting and the rockets. I like to think it's added some more interest to what is normally quite a blocky and featureless tank!

And here we have the scene:

'Europe 1946, and WW2 continues. German counter-attacks have started to push the Western Allies back, and in this sector are spearheaded by a new super-heavy tank, the PzVIII Maus. As one of these seemingly invulnerable breakthrough tanks rumbles down the tattered streets, the remnants of a US patrol take cover in a destroyed building, hoping it will pass without spotting them. One of the troopers aims his Bazooka at the vehicle, ready to fire a shot should they have to. Behind it, the pointman of a German squad cautiously moves forward with the Maus, looking out for exactly this sort of danger that may lie ahead...'

Nice job Greg. Good to see a Maus in its natural environment. The diorama story telling also works as well.

Hi Greg, that turned out really well and the story fits the scene perfectly............one can almost hear this "beast" rumbling down the street. :thumb2: Rick H.

Thanks for the comments all. It was an interesting build, even if it did come out a little bit too grey!

Love it! I’m building a Maus myself and it’s nice to see someone else’s take on it - though I don’t think mine will be finished to quite such a good standard..

Sorry I missed the finish Greg.
A quick meeting was held and we are proud to award the Dogs.
Congratulations. The build shows everything to tell the story and in 1/72 :thumb2:

Thank's all! Looking back on it now I can see a dozen things I'd change :smiling5: all part of the process I suppose!

We're all students. Very nice job, rubble/ruins especially.
