I've actually been building this one for about 8 weeks now.

It's my first attempt at scratch building anything so bear with it.

The body was carved in wood first, then a mould taken from it, and then laid up in carbon kevlar and resin - a bit like glass fibre but thinner and much stronger.

The engine frame and chassis is built from brass section and tube.

Most other parts are made from parts cast in resin - even the engine and interior parts.

Many detail bits are made from scrap, bits of junk in my spares box and plastic tube or brass and ally tube/section.

The wheels are hand laced.

I did manage to source a lovely set of Webber carbs from Germany but the linkages, manifold and intake trumpets are hand made, as is the exhaust manifold and pipes.

Still got the front suspension etc to go.....

Apologies if any of my pics are out of build order.

Hope you like it.

Roy.

Absolutely scratch model making at its very best, sublime build and craftmanship. Excellent Roy.

Great job there. One of the major things that puts me off building a car is the finish required for the paint ( I build dirty aircraft) but that's obviously not a problem for you.

Wow that's what I call real building! I'll think back on this one the next time I'm cursing a manufacturer for poorly fitting parts!

So much detail, but it looks factory! Just amazing Roy

Cheers

A small update today.....

Number roundels added - printed myself - I just wanted to see it a bit more 'race' looking.

Hinges and edges need painting still.

I've been working more on the front end.

'Picture frame' now built from brass section and sheet, 'A' arms built from brass and steel, uprights made from brass and scratch made resin castings, discs - large washers (!) and scratch made callipers, and the wheels checked for fit.

Getting there......

Roy.

What can you say about a collection like that. Wish it were mine. Supreme model building.

Love it.

Where do you get the tyres, or do you make them as well.
