The Flory Modelling Jig….

This jig is perfect for larger aircraft and many other models of most scales.

For my 1/32 aircraft it is now indispensable in the configuration pictured. Being able to set the aircraft firmly into a position to work on any part of a model makes life so much easier.

This jig has a range of fittings to make it flexible to many models.

It can be set up to be like any other jig, just with four adjustable verticals onto which you place the model, held firmly by elastic bands to either work on or to transport safely.

Another option for small aircraft would be to use a pair of uprights to set a smaller model at an angle to work on the side.

Or, there is how I am using it as in the picture. Easily adjustable so you can access any part of a model.

I call mine my ‘detailing jig’ mainly used for decals but clearly it’s usable for any work of the airframe. For painting I use an older more basic jig, which is all you need but, of course, this jig could also be used in that configuration to but I really don’t want mine to be covered in paint!!!

I really recommend this and it’s available on the Flory Models website. You can buy just a basic jig and add extra components, including the clamps to get the comprehensive set-up I have.

Incidentally, I am illustrating the jig with my latest, the 1/32 Revell Meteor (first edition). I will post the model when completed in a separate post. A great kit by the way and the best Revell I have ever built.

Looks very versatile. The fact that it's out of stock is testament to it's popularity
Meteor is looking great.

I am currently working on the Kotare Spitfire Vb. this is my second Kotare Spit and won’t be my last…. I am not doing a build thread on this one but have established the practicality of more uses of this jig.

I just fitted the sub-assembly into the clamps without changing the configuration.

I hate decals but this does make the job a lot easier.

Below you can see how you easily the position can be adjusted when needed
