Can someone, anyone let me know how to stop that horizontal, laughing icon that always appears in my posts whether I want it or not, thus making me have to physically delete it in every post I type? No big deal, just a bit annoying...

Does anyone else suffer from this?

Thanks Tony, does that mean that whenever I type something remotely 'funny' this thing will always insert itself into my post?

Also, what does R.O.F.L. mean? I'm only a simple country boy..

I just posted a post and when in advanced there is a tick box able disabling "smiles". See if that stops them.

It should only appear if you type l o l , as in lol not sure if a smile : - ) as in does anything but a wink ;-) does not

EDIT: I now know that a smile does not either lol .... damn...... I meant l o l

Brings back fond memories of when I was at college in Liverpool recieving letters, the hand written type, from my girlfriend, while I was studying to be a Marine Enginer. We all know the likes of SWALK but maybe not so many remember:

CHINA, NORWICH, BOLTOP, ITALY, BURMA, and the best of all, which actually applied to me, CHIP lol

I thought being a Civil Servant that I would be good on pointless acronyms yet I find myself totally lost on all these..... come to think of it, I don't know what 99% of them mean at work either, I just drift through the day nodding in agreement when someone talks bol*&ks, which really is 99% of the day.
