Any one know this kit? Seen one for sale and a bit tempted.

Its old Airfix so I am a bit worried that it might just be a bit lacking in detail and the like.

Have to say I have never come across this kit. Must be getting on a bit but that is not always a negative. At least at 1:35, you have a chance of 'mend and make do' if it has some dodgy areas. me being me, I would get it if the price is right just for the fun of building it. It would have to be a really terrible kit for me not to have a go.

hi ian , i think the 1/35 airfix kits (as opposed to the 1/32 kits) were from moulds that airfix acquired in the late 70s by a japanese firm called MAX. I have never personally seen them but id guess they should be ok, maybe someone else has first hand experience of them.If its cheap enough, then as graham says ,go for it! cheers tony

I would just go for it as long as it's cheep enough, I had a quick look at some of the older ones that have sold on ebay in the past and they look ok enough to tempt myself into buying.

A quick up-date: Went to the post office today to pick up a parcel from Germany.....

A quick look gives me the impression that the level of detail is actually very good. In fact I could right now say that the detail on the 6lb'er is better than the Tamiya one that I did last month.

An example being the hinged plate at the bottom of the sheild is a seperate part that can be positioned either up for transport or down for fireing. compleat with the required hooks to hold it!

The instruckion sheet is ONE BIG SHEET a la 'The Times'

A better look later, and I might just put a few photos up if I remember.

Hi Ian,

That looks pretty good to me. I don't know why so many people knock Airfix kits. Sure they've had their share of bad 'uns, but it's equally sure they've done a lot of good kits. I think it's fair to say that you could say the same about all the major kit makers.

Hope you'll share your build with us and let us know if it does turn out as good as it looks.

Gern

Sprues look good, I think you will be pleased you got it. Looking forward to seeing the build, it is an iconic vehicle so should be a great subject to work on. Are you doing it desert or Europe?

Not sure yet, but I am getting a bit low on yellow paint after four in a row in desert yellow!! Might just got for a greenie this time. Problem it it does look rather got in Micky mouse pattern.

I think I might be doing a bit of Googleing to see what I can find for inspiration.

Just found a Bedford QL on flee bay too. Im weak I might just have them to an do a convoy.....

looks mighty fine to me ian , looks like you got a bargain, cheers tony
