Following a very kind offer by @yak face Tony to fill a gap in my training squadron, he sent me the Airfix Scottish Aviation Bulldog.
A very old kit, but a straight forward build, only complicated by the fact, I could get no more lead in the front of the model. I even hollowed out the spinner for a bit of lead, but it wasn't enough, the little Bulldog is a terminal tail sitter. But wait, these old kits come with a stand.
Even the old decals were OK to use.
Here's the box and sprue shot, all in one.

Jeff and Pete installed with Tamiya belts and a spare decal for the IP.

The glazing responded well to a dip in Klear.

The it was nearly time for paint. You can see why there was no build thread for this little Bulldog.

Finished.

And finally, the training squadron. OK, the Gnat is a little over scale at 1:48.

Again, thank you Tony.

Lovely work Colin and what a great collection they make. The wave of nostalgia experienced on seeing that old Airfix stand!

Cracking work Colin, and a lovely little collection you have there.

I know what you mean. Often discarded when I was a kid, but now, a rare item indeed. The modern black one just isn't the same.
lovely little collection you have there
Just injecting a bit of colour to the shelves, although, this little lot actually live together.

Cracking finish on the Bulldog, Colin.

An excellent addition to the already splendid collection of trainers.

Beautiful job colin , it fits in perfectly. Nice to see the classic stand being used too , great to see this excellent old kit getting built, cheers tony

Colin,
old school answer to the tail sitter, either a black painted wire, or a stretched clear sprue, CA'd in a hole under the rear fuselage to act as a prop ( just the right length & you have 4 point contact ).
Dave

very nice

brings back memories......brought up in a village not too far from RAF Newton (last RAF base which was grass strip only...used for basic training and air experience flights back then).........in infant school and endless bulldogs and chipmunks flying overhead...lovely!

Thanks for stopping by chaps and taking time to comment.

or a stretched clear sprue
I did consider that Dave, but in a strange way, I needed to elevate the model, as my training shelf is becoming a bit tight for space.
brings back memories
It's funny how aircraft can do that. For me it was the red and white JP over a beach in Wales when I was a lad. Also, commonly seen at the same time, the Hawk, which I have yet to build for my training squadron.
