Here's my latest. Strictly speaking, it's not eligible for the SIG part of the forum, as I started it a bit too early. It's the new tool Airfix Zero, built OOB, though I made use of the Eduard canopy mask, and Techmod decals for a Pearl Harbour period aircraft. It's a lovely kit which goes together very easily, and the decals were good too - I know Techmod have had some bad press but these were just fine. Without wanting to lift the lid too much on the can of worms that is Japanese WW2 colours, I based the IJN Grey (or should it be IJN beige?) on the research here: http://modelingmadness.com/earlya6mcolors.htm. The paint used is Vallejo Model Air 'Hemp'.

I don't exactly what is it, but the Japanese planes have "something" different at the rest. I like them :P

Very nice work! Tidy and clean ;)

Beautiful build Doug. There is a lot of mystery and argument over so many colours, but I think you have captured the look nicely on your Zero.

great build Doug, real like it alot, i do like the jap planes just some think about them that captures me,

and for the colors your done a top job, excellent work :D

i do agree with Joe, so much mystery with the colors for them,

Regarding Japanese WW2 colours etc, there is an interesting blog here if anyone feels the desire to research further: http://www.aviationofjapan.com/2008/06/zero-interior-colours.html

Great stuff, the panel lines are nicely accentuated

Absolutely beautiful. Great looking panel lines. Paint is outstanding. I'm starting the Tamiya 1/32 Zero and I can only hope it turns out half as good as this.

Lovely build, it looks great

Lee :)

That looks very nice. I'm going to have to try one of these Airfix Zero's.
