Bit more done today, ive had a stab at painting his kilt , its not perfect but itll do for me , ive also given him some hair and eyes and im calling his fizzog finished. Ive now got to cut some strips from wine foil and spray them white for his webbing , the supplied plastic card is a bit too stiff. Kilt looks very good. A dark, heavy wash might help mute it a bit.

Cheers jon , yes i thought it might benefit from toning down a little but was afraid i would smother it and it end up just looking a mucky blue colour, it does currently look like its fresh off the washing line though :smiling5: :smiling5:

I think the kilt looks fine Tony (and very well painted) - I like a bit of colour.

Little bit more done today . Ive stuck his hat on his head and added the peak. Im calling his head done after i highlight his ostrich feathers ! The jacket has had a second coat of red and ive picked out the white details round his buttons ( plackets?) and on his cuffs and collar . This needs a bit more tidying up and then ill do the buttons with the dotting pen .0B40743E-49E8-4CF2-A108-58FC8FF654F5.jpegF270546E-3E9C-4C57-8EDC-37B6CD658D04.jpegBFD1595F-C5A9-4BA9-AD55-342A5D39DABC.jpeg

Small bit of progress on this one . Ive cut the straps(webbing?) from wine foil and painted them white . These have been glued on ready for his backpack and bags etc to be fastened on to the ends. Ive also painted his buttons and a few details on his coat tails , cheers tony55500752-4023-43C4-B132-046277150136.jpeg05EB784C-5D20-4E09-9241-B79296555D0B.jpeg

The legs have been coated and matt varnished ( except his shiny shoes!)....

Tony, good thing you captioned shoes and not his jewels. :tears-of-joy: Fine job on the kilt. muting it with a little dash of dark wash like a filter is a good advise. Protect it first with a layer of varnish before the filtering.
Everything else is progressing well. I did the same with the belts using old tooth paste tubing.

Cheers,
Richard

More nice, clean work Tony. Painting the straps before fixing is the way to go - great stuff.

Bit more done today on the highlander . I’ve fitted his epaulettes and the pouch and small pack on his back . The water bottle has also been added with a wine foil strap and his legs and torso have got acquainted. Next is the big backpack and blanket then it’s just his noggin and rifle , speaking of which , I want to have his bayonet fixed ready ( they don’t like it up em mr mainwaring !) but would appreciate advice from them wot nose about things like this (ie not me!). When fixed does the bayonet sit above the barrel or below and is there a hole in the end of the socket so the gun is still capable of firing with the bayonet fitted?
