Airfix 54mm Napoleonic French Line Infantry

Warfare in any century is barbaric Gavin. However, I think combatants in that age saw more of death and hardship in everyday life than we can possibly understand, and this made them mentally tougher and more able to cope with the sights and sounds of battle.

Paint has been flung!

I was going to complete one figure at a time, but I think I might just do all the heads first in the hope that I get into a bit of a groove.
I have such trouble remembering what I did before, but at least I have made notes for the uniforms.

It's total pot luck as far as any expression is concerned- as long as he looks mostly human I'm happy!

Fusilier 8 is ready for paint, but he'll have to wait until I've freed up some Crocodile clips

I changed the head. I wanted a really young looking one so this one is from a Historex lady. It's hard to see in white but hopefully it will look good in paint.

I had to do the bloody hobnails again, and I've 3D printed my own shoulder straps-fingers crossed they look ok with paint on.
I'm going to explore 3D printing some boots with hobnails for the upcoming casualties- got to find some easier solution or I'll lose the will to live!
cheers for now
Neil

If it wasn't for all the little bits and bobs we add for detail on our models........'twouldn't be any fun at all! :tongue-out3: :tears-of-joy:;)

Impressed with all this talk about 3D printing Neil, at one point I thought the black art was moulding , advanced PE , but now convinced otherwise .
What's the world of modelling going to be like in 10 years ? Hopefully I'm still around to see .

Compared to the hand made ones, they look a bit like DM soles Neil. It’s probably the print striations so it will be interesting to see what they are like under paint…..

You're right Tim, they need a coat of paint to feck them up a bit lol. I'm sure I can manage that...
This is the reference

and this is my digital re-creation.

not strictly accurate as it's more handed (or should that be footed...) than it should be.
Anyway, I'm sticking with them.

Not long joined group so a bit late joining the post like what you're doing looking forward to seeing this progress
