Yes, my usual method is to work from the black primer too but I always like to try different things. After this one I might not bother again :tears-of-joy:

Yeah this didn’t look like your usual expert work before painting. We all learn at least you try different things. Still turned out great.

Your topside doesn't look like a nightmare. I actually think it's pretty successful. I also find the selected colors spot on. I'm excited to see what happens next and what the plane looks like with decals.

Thanks Andreas. The journey to get there was a nightmare but I'm happy with the end result (for the base colour stage)

Decals are going on now :smiling3:

Beautiful paint job on the cockpit Andy,a real treat to see :thumb2: ,
..... and,as you say, it's certainly looking like a Hurricane now:cool:.

It is a fine balance getting the pre shading right, a skill I haven't yet mastered. Too much paint and you loose the effect, too little and it looks false. Your model looks fine to me Andy.

Cheers Andy.

Decals are on. As with a build video I saw, the upper roundals have chipped quite a bit over the raised rivets so they'll need some touching up:

The surface detail is rather nice on those wings.
Paint is looking very nice too. You busted the same canon off as I did. lol

Thanks all, I'm glad you like it.

The fuzzy edges of the camo are growing on me. Not accurate but I think they soften the overall look.

I'm getting close with this one.

I've pin washed the panel lines, black underneath, dark brown up top, and given it a low gloss varnish. A couple of knock off bits have been added, as well as the canopy and light lenses:

I came to fit the undercarriage after these pictures and realised that I'd not painted the wheels yet! So it's on its legs now, but without boots.

With those and the exhaust fitted it'll just need a bit of dirtying up.

Oh, and I dropped the gun sight while trying to fit it. It's rattling around inside the fuselage somewhere! If I ever get it out I'll add that too.

Looks great Andy. Very tidy and some great pictures. Seems a shame to dirty it up it looks soooooooo nice.

Thanks Steve, and I agree. I'll try and keep it subtle but a few streaks here & there should add some interest.

That looks excellent Andy.
Abit of gun soot and exhaust and maybe a bit of dessert dust and your good to go.

Thanks guys, I may add slightly more chipping as it doesn't show up much in the pictures.

I'm glad I went hunting for reference pictures too. It seems the Hurricane has quite a distinctive arcing pattern to the exhaust stains. I'll see if I can do that justice.

Andy that looks awesome especially the first pic with the light on the cockpit looks so convincing great job.
