Back in to modeling after 25 years away from it, (just had enough of computer games, and when your using a computer all day, it makes a welcome change to hold a paint brush again, if you get my drift) and I can only say its changed a lot, the kits are totally different and the different paints etc are just amazing

So were did I put that brush, after much deliberation I choose the Tamyia 1/48 scale P-51 mustang

I will post later images of work in progress, but its well under way, enjoying the build immensely.

one question I keep reading about Klear as a varnish ( the last time I used Klear was to cheat when on parade) is it any good as a varnish on model kits

Hi and welcome to the forum and back to the world of modeling Klear / Pledge multi serface wax as it is called now is well used as a varnish on models before and after the decals are applied and if a gloss finish is needed

Klear. Wow wot a big big can of worms. They are crawling out every where.

Just put Klear in your search browser & all will be revealed. It will take a month of Sundays to read it all.

Hate the________ no, no, no I may get chucked off this forum a horrible disaster.

Hi Chameleon and a warm welcome to the forum. There are a fair number of us here who have been away and then come back to modelling, myself included, and who are always surprised at how much things have changed. I compare my first efforts with a series one Airfix fighter with the standard of kit you can get nowadays and first of all revel in the superb level of detail you can now achieve but then always wonder if I get any more satisfaction out of the kits nowadays than I did all those years ago.

Welcome Chameleon,

Quite a few of us on here have returned to modeling after some time out of the hobby.

Glad someone remembers another use for the original klear. Saved bulling your boots for hours. Although I did here some stories about boots turning blue after using it.

Thanks for the messages, nice to know I am not the only one who has returned from the dark side, will try Klear on a test piece and see how it looks, in the mean time I will keep you posted on my project, should upload images later tonight
