when i thought about joining this GB i went looking for a 1/48 MiG of some discription.....a 15 or 19 or 21...........but as i was walking around a show a while back i saw this on a stall and just had to have it!

back when i was a kid and into this malarky the first time round this was one of those kits that was always on my want list but never actually got....either could never afford it or when i could something else came first......so im finally getting round to building something thats technically been on my want list for 40+ years!

ancient kit, first came out in 1968 and this is a 1992 reboxing, obviously dosnt compare to todays offerings , very basic, mix of raised/recessed panel lines.......im not much of a plane builder these days, always found the paintwork hard but this should be easier as its an overall BMF

Should be interesting Paul. Some of these old kits can make great finished products with a bit of attention and modern techniques.

Speedy progress Paul. May I suggest sanding down those panel lines a bit? Raised detail is one thing but they look like they are huge in that photo. Your paint job will look better if the panel lines were more subtle. It's all come together very nicely so far. Great job.

at the minute im in two minds about doing that.....its either leave it as it (this is a 'blast from the past', do it as i used to as a kid build) or take the whole lot off!!

its had 2 1/2 paint jobs....tried to do some preshading, first coat of aluminium just didnt work, so re-preshaded in dark gray and did another coat of ally........and ended up giving the top surfaces another quick waft over after that!
