discussion Bit of a bad day

Hi all

Had a bit of a bad day today, many years ago, when I was a policeman, I had a car crash and broke my neck and my back, Fortunately I survived and even more fortunately I managed to walk again although it ended my police career. Move forward several years and I have often still had problems with my back, over the last several months I have gradually lost feeling in my left foot and recently went for an MRI scan. I had the results of the scan today which showed that L4 and L6 discs were compressed onto my nerves and therefore causing the problems, to cap it all the scan also showed a shaded area that I have to have more tests for. I am by character a "Glass is half full type" so I am very optimistic, even trusting the NHS to sort it. I haven't posted this for a sympathy vote just as information that over the coming months I may disappear for weeks on end and not get onto the site. just wonder if they will let me take my modelling gear into the hospital .

Sorry to hear about that paul, I hope everything goes ok for you. Forget about the modelling mate and just get yourself sorted ,we'll all be here waiting when you feel like doing a bit more , all the best tony

Thank you Paul for informing us, I too informed this site about my disability and lack of funds, just informing that I would not be modelling for a while, afterwards I felt guilty thinking folk would feel I was after stuff or after sympathy...not the case. It was all unfounded and the people here are just terrific and made me feel at ease, as they will for you Paul. I am sorry to hear that your health has deteriorated and hope that you get it sorted and are back modelling when you can. Your work speaks volumes of the skill you have and we will all wait until you're better to look at your wonderful models.

Cheers Guys, i shall carry on at the mo and knowing our NHS it will be a time before the op so ill take each day as it comes and immerse myself with what im doing, and im sure that by the end, after ive been poked and prodded a few hundred times things will be OK, my wifes a nurse anyway so she will just give me a kick up the backside if i need it

I will echo what Yak face has said never mind the kits mate your health and well being takes priority right now, your kits will bew there when you are better. Besides because of a hospital enviornment i doubt they will allow you to work with potentially hazardous materials. The noble clan wish you all the best and to take care.

Cheers Guys, Ian my police car had an argument with a Taxi whilst i was chasing a motorbike, taxis fault but i came off worse, although the car didnt fare any better . You never know whats round the corner.............................................in my case a Taxi . Im just hoping that they dont book me in for the 9th and 10th of November cos im definately going to Telford, so if you see a guy whizzing down the M6 in a wheelchair with several models strapped to his back.................Give me a lift

So Paul hope all goes well. But nothing is lost in this remarkable world.

Suffered from 23 years until 59 with disc 4 up from the bum ( mad keen fast bowling & trying to get a manhole up for inspection). Pains in legs buttock & hip. Corsets with metal support pieces all down the back. 36 years of it.

Then this racing car on a hill climb went berserk & hit me with 3 others poor humans. Broke my pelvis in 3 places, chipped a disc & I died in hospital. Yes chipped disc no 4 not had any problems since.

So all will I am sure be well although I would not recommend a visit to a hill climb.

PS Died in hospital, but you will have logically realised that I refused to go, they conceded, I got really annoyed, they allowed me to stay.

Plus 1 to that Paul. It maybe better for walking on two legs but, humans have developed the art of working hard, despite machinery and bending, lifting, moving means that the back just isn't good enough.
