Well done Chris....is it me or is she light in the stern? Looking forward to the Maiden Voyage!! :thumb2: :thumb2: ;)
HI Rick yes she is sittin light at the stern as i said she would be as there are 4 heavy servos in them front gun turrets to turn them port an starboard an that front big BRIDGE S/S is very heavy due to brass mast but could not build it out of plastic box section as i was hopein to as it would melt on a hot day so that where all the wheight is comin from but i was pretty pleased at how stable she is as i thought i might have to add more counter balance wheight but she is just right

Even the big boys leak Chris. (Thats why they have bilge pumps!!)
Think a big pat on the back for yourself and a large glass of what you fancy!
an thank you mr wasp an yes if when sailin an there is more water pressure on the hull leak points then i will fit in a bilge pump as i have one already in my spares box in case its needed but wont know till she sails an yes i will have what i fancy a nice blonde lol
chrisb
Well done Chris, she looks just fabulous and the crew figures really make the ship look real.

Andy.
an cheers Andy yes crew figures make all the difference thats why i fit them on as with no crew figs to me the ship looks dead

Well Chris, why should you have it any easier than the U.S. Navy....I can remember taking a short "Shake Down" cruise aboard USS Intrepid after she was out of "Refit".....Looks like you'll be running down the same "bugs", only smaller! ;) :thumb2: :thumb2:

HI Rick well i think i desevre a bit of a break man as i had a lot more hair when i started this build but very thin on top now lol an for a change it would be super to have to just put her togeather an then try everything an have it all go an make me pleased but no i bet goin over these bloomin old potholes filled roads to get to NORWICH pond will upset the delicate eletronics in her an over all these big ole speed bumps i just cant figure it out rather than makin big speed bumps why not use the materieral to full up the potholes now to me that makes sence but no they go about makin the rds worst an ive got to get tiger over them without any damage if poss as they have layed down speed bumps all round the pond park Aaaaaaacccccggg an double yelllow lines so cant park anywhere but in the pond an the US NAVY has a few dollars more than me to sort out probs flamein gremlins but so far she is workin great but will she when get to pond on warship day eh but im gonna do some testing on stabilty as its ok in test tank but not up the pond as she will have gale force winds to face as up pond its all open so the winds can build up force enough to make her turn turtle as ive seen other ships sink just like that snap SO yes i want an easy time for me an thank goodness i'll have freinds up there to do all the liftin of her into pond as i normaly have to nr fight them off as they all want to get their hands on her an i have to tell them where to lift her so no damage to hull or fittins an it should be quite a good day esp if neil can vid her as its a very sad do on gerry so i will be thinkin of him OH SO SAD
ATB Rick to you an your missus

We are all looking forward to the big day now Chris…….hope it’s not long in coming…..she’s going to look superb at speed on the water.
Not sure if I’d want to transport the hull on the back seat like that though. One sharp application of the brakes and you could be in trouble. I think I’d be tempted to make up some sort of support so i could double stack them in the boot.

Just take it one step at a time Chris and you'll get through it. It's not your first Rodeo after all.......there was Norfolk and Nimitz before Tiger so you're an old hand at this sort of thing. Oh and forget about your hair, once it is gone you won't have to worry about it anymore....at least that's my experience anyway. Stay the course my friend. :thumb2:

HI Tim well wheather permittin the great day for her will be june the 11th warship day at NOWICH pond an im goin to do several tests on her in the wet stuff before i let her off the leash an flank speed will only be on the sraight coures an slow down for the turns as ive seen some models that look ok an then a turn an they just roll over an sink an that im goin to make sure dont happen to tiger as if she did sink she would be a devil of a job to get her out of the pond an boy oh boy am i glad i fitted them counter balance metal bars on her keel as without them she would roll over due to top wheight an no cant double stack them hulls Tim as they are just to big id never be able to shut down the hatchback but all the same a good idea an may have some thoughts on that after her first trip out an regards stern section on the back seat well with jens help i may be able to fit a seat belt over her or put in cushion so she cant roll off as yes you never know what idiots on the rds are goin to do to make me do an emgency stop so i'll be prepared for that to happen an i will be goin fairly slow about 30 mph an try to aviod the potholes an slow for speed bumps AN RICK thats one thing THE US NAVY HAVNT GOT TO CONTEND WITH LOL
cheers for your ideas Tim an it may be possible but will look into it well done my freind

HI Agin Rick yes you are right regards whats goin to happen as yes i am an old hand but every time you get on that buckin bronco you may fall off an brake every bone in your body so just because i got through it with all them other ship dont mean i wont have trouble on this one so just got to be carfeull an think what im goin to do before i do it an then should be ok an i will be a bundle of nerves on the day an thats when my temper gets short so will have a nerve tab before we go Aaaaaacchh an yes will do what you say my freind an hope things go just dandy an take loads of piccys

MANY THANKS Jim but untill she has her sea trails im not relaxin an goin to be on the gaurd for anything that may happen to her so ive got to be on the ball so to say an yes im pleased with her but she is very fragile regards the railings an fittins an such so easy to break something so i'll be goin to take a big bottle of C/A an the acellerant to fix anything thats come adrift an yes Jim its is 4 yrs but dont seem it as it dont seem that long ago that i was cuttin out her keel an fittin in the hull frames on her in the gargae my how time flyes as when i was at work i could pass time an wait for it to catch up an the days seemed like wks till it was home time as i dint enjoy the jobs either welding at crane fruhauf or bein jack of all trades up the office mess at RAF COLTISHALL coundnt wait to get home as then i was building a big 4ft by 4ft fort for one of the chefs young son as they heard i built models an asked me to make them one as the went to a toy shop to get one an got a shock at the cost so i made them one a lot cheaper than they could buy it an my one was bigger an let them off most of the costs as they were a nice young couple an his missus sent me more dosh as she was so pleased at what i had made for her son an he was over the moon with it as i like to try an help people if i can

Great stuff mate. As to the hatch, couldn’t you just drop the back seats and put the hulls in end on? They’d be much safer, and I’m sure a simple safety rig isn’t beyond a man of your ability…..only thinking about this because I had a bag full of band stuff fly across the car Monday after stopping suddenly. I put it on the front seat unsecured without thinking. Id hate that to happen to you after all your superb work.

HI Again Tim yes i see what you mean but regards fittin both hulls in the boot just wont work as the hulls are to long an the back seats wont go down right flat like they did in my mazda 6 AS yes in that car i could get nimitz in like you are sayin one on top of each other with form in between but this car now is a smaller car so got to get it in just how i can yes i can get both Norfolk hulls in the boot but tiger is a lot bigger so will see how i get on but many thanks for your thoughts on the subject

Probably illegal, but what I have done with Iron Duke, is stretch bungy cords across between the headrests of the front seats, which the bow rests on, and the wife holds onto that, and with the stern resting on the backrest of the rear seats between the headrests. All the S/S fits in the rear very well.
So far it has worked with no damage.
I do wish you the very best on launch day though.
