Boatmans Super Tomcat F14D Build

HI ALL well still at it an jen has been helpin me since 9am this morn an we have had enough for the day as im shattered an jen was tired out as we have been fittin them after market decalls on the cat an they have been terrible an would you beleive it but some of the bad decals were so bad i just dumped them an got the same decall off the trumpy decalls that came with the kit an they were great no splitin at all wish id have used them now in the first place an done the bounty hunter scyeme an now at least it looks half decent after i have just touched up the decals with paint an here starboard side an that long black an yellow stripe at the nose broke up into 6 parts so i had the job with jens help of alingninig it all up again phew
an the port side an that black an yellow bar half of it just fell apart into tiny bits so had to cheat a bit an nick part of the starboard side to match up an this is still not finished again tommorw an yes the navy decal needs to be straighted up as ive never know decals like these they just wont stay fitted to the surface an keep lifin up an i touched up that big J AN IT NOW LOOKS ACCEPTABLE
still more decalls to fit tomorrow an i aploagise for showin such a poor kit to all you espert moddelers but best this will come up so far

That looks like a struggle alright, putting those markings on 
YES Jakko it was as them bloomin decals half of them just fell to bits when tryin to slide them off the backin paper an i was losein the will to carry on with this moddel as now im not buyin after market decals no more as i treid the kits decalls an they were good like the big walk way black decals near the canopy they were brilliant an dint brake up not like the after market decals i bought from hannants as jen an i were there hrs tryin to fit the bits of decals togeather but just goin to fit the canopy an the big fuel tanks an give the misseles a miss as this kit has killed my modelin mojo oh dear an im leavein that super hornet for a while to see if my mojo comes back just goin to light her up when ive fitted the canopy an i think call it quits

My advice is that for your next model, build something that fits well and goes together quickly, that way you’ll actually finish the model and feel better

WELL Jakko would like to take your advice thank you trouble is there is nothing that i feel like building now mojo is shot an might drop off the forum for a while to see if i miss it

Chris, hit the wall, I know how you feel, done it a few times, mojo in the bin....
Take a break and let the dust settle, you have hit a big problem and overcome it (decals)....
I went away after my last look and then came back and have caught up on even more spectacular workmanship.
The decals are a PITA, can I suggest that for your next build make a mask of the letters and spray them on....

HI Mike yes mojo done in an yes big problem only had this happen once before on that K/H jag kit but that was a small kit of 1/48th an to me it dint seem to matter but on this big tomcat kit done so much extra work like lights an opening an closein fusalarge panels an bad fits kit an jen havin bought it an buyin after market decals it seems a big kick in the teeth after all that an i just havnt got the gumpshion to want to make masks an they are to complex anyway them decals are but just goin to finish the plane an light it up to see what i would have had better if this had worked out how i planned it to but thanks to you also mike for your suggestion like Jakko gave me

HI again guys well that ole stubbon streak has arose in me as lookin at the model with a bit of touchin up an fitting all the rest of the decals which i have done this morn an now she looks acceppatble not brlliant but acepptable so i will do more work on her may not fit them missles though but i will see on that but just been lookin at the model an too me i am back to likein it so maybe i was makin a mountain out of a molehill an there is a web address on them bloomin decals so i think i'll drop them an email an see if i get a reply

well guys i treid to email that company that made my crap decals but ive got to jion an login so hardly worth it to just complain as i wont be buyin any more of their decals

I hate it when decals start falling apart, it's such a pain to deal with. Looks like you're getting there though Chris!
Chris, that’s a shame that the decals are falling apart… I really liked the skull on the tail… Chin up and keep it coming
AN HI Arnie yes when this decal prob starts there is not a lot to be done as when id painted the tails in yellow an black im sort of comitted to havin to use these decals for the plane but at least i still had some part of them decals an lucky i had the right paints to touch up them decals as i had to do this as i have put in far to much work on the plane to just dump it in the bin

AN HI Joe yes these decals playin up how they have was nearly the nail in the coffin for me but with jens help as she said we can put them right as possible so as i had the shakes lol i dint feel like i could paint them decals to look fairly good but jen was hold my wrist so with a fine paint brush away we went touchin up them decals an now with near all the decals on as jen said to me it looks acceptable an she is right boy oh boy what would i do with out her as she doent beleive in givin up wow what a SWMBO i got an she is a decade younger than me so she has still got plenty of mojo which im running short of lol p/s AN YES I LOVED THAT BIG SKULL AN BONES sets the plane off an i would have thought that they would have split but no i think i was lucky there on them

AN thinkin of that skull an bones im sure i see on a utube vid that shows in their sqr crew room that they actulay have a skull an bones in a glass case oh wow an that makes the planes look very sinister havin that on the tails wow

HI ALL well not a lot done all wk as been ILL with a sick bug an so has jen but we both feel better now thank goodness so today got stuck into the big cat an i think ive saved it from disatster as now its lookin pretty good not brilliant but acceptable an here ive been workin on the big misseles panit sprayin an fittin all the tediuos decals but at least they dint break apart still more to fit on 
AN TO my amazement they just dropped into postion on the belly mounts inside the pancake in the fusealarge underside wow thats a first as no filein or sandin
AN WHILE the cat was upside down i thought id fit them weird crank out missle pylons an do you think they would fit NO had to grind off the mountin fittments an took ages filelin so took the dremal with an grindin bit to levele them off to get them to glue on in place an boy the ole temper was frayin well pic hasnt loaded im afraid so a shot here of the phenix missle mounted on to it an the missles are jus clipped on an can be removed if i so desire
