Morning chaps,

I didn't know Simon although enjoyed his builds. I understand he was a fan of German armour so have decided to build this.



This was a kit I bought as a job lot a couple of years ago. Upon opening the box I found that it came with quite a few extras.



I can't say there will be much scratch building, but I am going to attempt to use as much of the photetch as I can manage without breaking it.

Great choice. This is based on an older Tamiya kit I think, new parts and reboxed - right up Simon's street :smiling: I am also taken with the box art. Nice surprise to find those lovely extras in the box.

Bob, remember to cut the hull right through the middle and add a 3mm spacer...just kidding, not all of Simon's builds ended up this way.

Morning chaps.

I made a start on this last night. I decided to ease into it by building the motorcycle first, then it was on to the wheels and lower hull.

Morning guys.

I got a little bit more done on this last night. I sanded the seams on all the wheels and added the hubs. Not particularly interesting so I didn't take a pic.

Then it was on to the first bit of Zimmerit, the rear panel. This involved hacking off the existing details as it was represented on the resin Zimmerit sheet which was accomplished with a razor saw, a scalpel and sanding sticks.



It all seemed to fit OK so I glued it to the back of the hull and applied a small bit of filler to the gap at the bottom.

Started some of the PE over the weekend, brackets for the jack, jacking blocks, etc. Also removed the sprocket guards and glued the upper hull to the lower.



I also started work on the PE rear mud guards and decided to push my skills and try soldering for the first time. Now admittedly this didnt go entirely to plan and I did melt a couple of small parts a bit, but hey slap on some pigment later on and call it rust, right?

No pictures of the wheels! I'm heart broken. I live for pictures of tank wheels. My life will never be the same not knowing what your wheels look like. LOL

Awesome work on the back end. Lovely tidy work
