The Achilles heel for all tank builders. For whatever reason one side is usually shorter than the other so hopefully you will have better luck. We are all with you on this one my friend
Greeting Steve, the other side is only going to be partly on !!!, As is now done .Keep saying I'll never use plastic tracks again , but fall into the trap .

Relax old boy...smoke some hemp and make like daisy chains around a camp fire and soon you'll be done for both sides. The extra half link will give a more exaggerated sag.

Cheers,
Wabble
Wabble , thank you, I've taken to having a Horlicks at bedtime ! Does this count ? Actually had to cut a link in half! Seems to do the job, covered in some mud and hardly seen it will be ok .

John

Just had a catch up. Despite your track woes that's coming on very nicely indeed. Love the look of the engine!

Keep up the great work.

ATB.

Andrew
Evening Andrew, the one thing I just can't do is these tracks , even when they are cleaned to perfection ! Now engines are a different matter , love them .

Evening all. Tracks are finished, the side that has just been done was much easier as only the back end of the track is on about 2 road wheels along .
Taking a break from sticking plastic I've taken to making some ammo cases from Bass Wood thin section ,much more fun ;)Photos tomorrow .

No - just Dick....
Lucky for me a huge part of the population of Malaysia don't know the short form of it and haven't heard it used on me. When I annoy some people and they tell me to stop being a dickhead I reply...be more creative. :tears-of-joy:

John, you don't get this award...you d man already...

Looks like a Despair Inc. poster. My daughter gets me a wall calendar (Demotivational Calendar) from Despair Inc. every Christmas. You may have seen some of my favorite pages in my man cave pics.

I can hear the cheers from here. I suppose the more times you use these plastic tracks the easier it becomes - hopefully :rolling:
Yes there was excitement and cheering Jim. Just have to pick the right build for decent tracks !

Just pulled up at the back John, sorry for being late. I can see some very nice work even from here, and a great idea.

Your welcome Ian, just sit away from the rabble on the first two rows, they can get a somewhat upset when the biscuits run out.

With those tracks done happiness has returned to the cave. To celebrate I decided to make some ammo cases, downloaded a drawing of the SU -122 and set to work.

Basswood is the only real choice , its cuts perfectly and glues well .

Made 5, one will be open showing the internals, the others closed up. Realising to straighten brass wire was simple in the drill while holding thew other end with pliers I was able to end up making some handle grabs as well on the SU .

Some of the .6 mill wire made into end handles. Cases will need a slight damping with a wet cloth , then sanding to remove that fluff.
Meanwhile slowly working on the "Beast "

That brass section sticking out from the centre of the rail will be cut off later.

Thanks for looking in .

John.
