Brian's actual 1/200 Yamato build

As Steve said interesting to see the concentration of secondary armament and AA guns around the centre!
She only shot down 16 planes out of 150 attacking aircraft according to what I could find out before she was sunk by 19 torpedo's obviously didn't work having all the AA guns central as the attacks fore and aft couldn't be countered.

Trouble is, by the time she was built she was a very large white elephant. The world had moved on and her outdated design brief was to defend against big guns rather than aircraft. The armoured belt was supposed to enable her to stand in a line of battle slugging it out with other similarly armed ships, and the central island concept enabled all the important bits to be put behind the armoured belt without the weight overloading the hull. Other nations did the same thing, France and Britain, for example. Any battleship built after about 1930 was really a waste of resource. Strategically the Japanese would have been far better served building a few more carriers, but then military thinking always seems to fight the previous war until it’s rudely awaken by contact with the enemy…..

Doesnt stop her being extremely imposing and this being a superb build though ;)

Ah, the science of warfare!!

You must be mad as a hatter to even attempt those railings - I quail even at 1/35 hinges! Looking really good to date!

I have moved all the chatter about The Millennium Falken to the thread in the Sci-fi section.

Dropped a bit of a boo boo the walkway is supposed to be linoleum brown but I can't get at it now (scared I'll cock it up) so it's staying grey. unless you guys got a work around?

No! Absolutely unforgivable. Start again! lol JOKE.

Is it the walkway on the flight launch deck, the strip two squares wide?

Here in Italy they are sold for 17.42 € and a box contains 70 sailors in various poses.
On ION models website there are directions to local retailers; for UK it's Hannants.
