Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

Great work Brian, I suppose a stain would turn out much darker then a satin varnish? Probably depends on the look you're after. Looking forward to your next update. Cheers

Thanks Steven, decided on just a satin varnish when the upper decks are in place you can see very little of the gun deck so best keep it light I reckon

I think the practice of "holystoning" (sp??) would leave a light finish to the decking. Love the work so far.

Holystone is a soft sandstone used to scrub wooden decks. I imagine the result would have been a lighter coloured deck.
Coming on a treat Brian.

Thanks Jim, lining the gun ports atm and is proving to be time consuming as is all the jobs on this model :)

Hey :) still lining the gun ports, proving tricky to get just right but no rush so taking my time :)

Progress is sure to slow now as the build becomes more and more fiddly. It is looking so good it's time well spent.

With Christmas around the corner I have slowed down somewhat having a busy week, decorations, got to re-silicon the shower, outside lights and bits and bobs, so my model time has suffered :)

A bit more before dinner started to plank the inner gun port bulkheads.

Coming along very nice. All the planking is a bit of an energy killer. I keep looking at my boat build and end up with a - maybe tomorrow. lol
