Steve I hade the same meccano kit and the construction kit plus a box full of ordinary meccano. I still have it in the loft plus a great big box of proper lego which the grandson loves to plat with.

Great catch up with your build Steve. The bike is brilliant, glad you went with the replacement spokes as they really lift the model, even down to the air valves!!

Hi Steve
Loving every update on this. Really does you credit. I have that rivet maker. Very useful and works well with very thin styrene sheet as well. Well done with those PE spokes - I did some for a m/c and it drove me demented! Bike looks brilliant. My son was the Lego builder. He had tons of the stuff. He was actually very inventive with it. Eventually though girls and alcohol took over and he gave it to some long forgotten girlfriend's younger brother. He wishes he still had it as it is probably worth a fair bit now.

Hi Everyone

We have loads of Lego as well Scottie. Just waiting for the grand kids to arrive so we can get it down again. As my daughters are career women it could be some time:smiling5:
Looking forward to painting those Mick:fearful: Thanks for looking in mate
Thanks for the comments Jim. I was using the rivet maker this morning and after about the 30th time of banging away with the hammer I thought I wonder who do I look like?? Then it came to me:smiling5::smiling3:

More great work Steve. At least your PE instructions tell you the length of the rod, the ones I'm using only give you the diameter

Hi Everyone

PE instructions can be a pain Mick. Often I look at the diagrams and wonder what on earth I am supposed to do with it:smiling5:
I enjoyed doing them Jim. Mainly because they went together well:thumb2:

DAAAAAMNNN that is details in its best....... i need to buy that kit.... PUNCH DIE

Fantastic update

Steve,
the added detail looks superb. If I may make a suggestion when you have removed the details use a piece of part worn scotchbrite other makers are available to gently remove the feathering and smooth the area down. Loving this build though I wondered what those frames were under the arches as well, the only thing I could think of was some sort of strengthening ribs. Keep up the great work.

Hi Everyone

I waited three years to get mine Greg. Wouldn't be without it now. Just need to get the bolt head one like Jakko's
I was wondering if they were braces that could be dropped onto the tyre to wedge it in place when using the winch. Who knows Scottie. Could be a glorified tea maker:smiling5::smiling3::smiling5:

Fantastic detailing Steve. The p.e came for mine yesterday so I shall wait until yours is completed before making a start so I can follow your build.

Hi Steve
Really enjoying your foray into the mad-mad world of super detailing. You have the knack - duck to water.
Jim

Good to see you back on it and doing More lovely work mate, I can see your detailing getting neater and neater with each build.
Having the ability to make your own rivets is great...I have no doubt that you will make the most of them:nerd:

Have you got yer self a mini mitre box yet?...a useful tool I find. Keep it coming :thumb2:

Steve, everytime I come in to look at your progress I have to step into the garden and look at the greens to re-focus and rest my eye-balls. :smiling6: How do you do it? Most of the time I would be on my hands and knees looking for the "pinged" items.

You're giving rivet counters a run for their counting with the new rivet making tool. Top marks on the build. :thumb2:

Cheere,
Richard

Generally looking good Steve although that headlight mod looks a bit brutal :surprised:

Ideally you need a small motorised drill and a ball ended grinding bit but failing that a set of DIY drill bits - start with a small one then increase the size to open out the hole

this can even be done by hand without a power drill

since drill bits have V shaped ends they will naturally open out the bowl of the light and give a bit smoother finish

Hi Everyone:smiling5:

It's all done now Colin so you can crack on now sir:smiling5:
Thanks Fernando. Glad you like it mate
Kind of you to say Jim. All finished now sir
I could have done with one of those mitre boxes today Si. I will add it to the long list of tools I need:smiling2:
That made me chuckle Richard:smiling5: Many thanks
I still keep looking out for the combo drill Mr T. It just seems my money goes elsewhere at the moment. Mainly to Bill:sad-face:
I had to look that one up Jakko but you are right. There are definite similarities:smiling5:

Hi Steve
Nice to see this back. There wasn't much to do compared to the amount of work already done. Looks excellent. Love those window stays. I can well understand you being wary of using foam for masking after your mishap. Having said that I have used foam with no problems although your sheets look to have done a good job.
