Hans Hahn was a WW2 Ace German Fighter pilot, with 108 'kills' to his credit. In Feb. 1943 whilst attacking Russian aircraft, his aircraft was damaged. He had to make a forced landing and was captured by the Russians.

The location of his aircraft was lost in time........

Seems like ages since I've built an aircraft. Here is my model of his aircraft at the time. I didn't bother with primer. It's all brush painted with Vallejo Model Air acrylics.
I've noticed that the mottling on a lot of German fighter aircraft became quite faint, so that is what I've tried to achieve. After I'd brushed on the mottle, I brushed the whole aircraft with a well thinned wash of Lt. Grey acrylics, until I was happy with the 'faintness' of the mottle, and also to add dust streaks to the model at the same time.

Panel lines gone over nice and simply at the last stage with a pencil - then rubbed in! Cockpit canopy frame painted freehand with a very fine pointed brush.

I added a few oils streaks, and generally mucked it up a bit.

No faffing about, as I wanted the aircraft to look 'Used'

After Hahn was made a prisoner by the Russians, his aircraft's location became lost and forgotten.

In 1973 a team of Aircraft Historians traced it's location. It was found in Eastern Germany.
In the years since it's forced landing, Mother Nature, the ravages of time and scavengers had all done their work. Little remained except the airframe.

Sorry, I was that caught up with my mate 'Assi' Hahn's service record that I forgot to mention the kit details, so......

1/48 Tamiya. Focke-Wulf Fw190 A-3. A very nice kit. Wonky, old decals though. I bought it 'Part built' too. 'nuff said. But I did my best. All brush painted with Vallejo Model Air Acrylics.

Dave, with a bit of care, models brush painted can stand up to those painted with an A.B. - and no need to mask anything either.

Although I suppose, there will always be those who won't or can't accept it.....That's life

Very nice. Did you trash the model for the crashed scene, or is it a stand in ? I like the trees and bushes. Whilst they are not the subject, they are still very eye catching. And wonky undercarriage - one reason I haven't built a Me109 is I just can't look at the undercarriage. It's silly.

Colin - The aircraft in the woods is a mini dio. I did for our 2010 GB 'Focke - Wulf Fw 190' called 'If you go down to the woods today."
The 'trees and bushes' are scavenged from the lane outside my place and in our garden.
