Scale 1/87 “HO”


The Captain jack’s is a typical waterfront building produced by the U.S. brand called Bar Mills.


I must admit, that once opened the box, the kit looks sublime! And I’m really wishing to start to work on wooden models as well, because it means learn new skills and tips


The house is build at scale 1/87 (HO) and will be part of my new layout train. If it works I am planning to reproduce a typical American 60-70's one

Hi All.


I started to paint all the walls before to glue all them.


As I commented, new kind of models wants new kind of skills


So here are the steps done by the moment....


The first one is paint a very thin and soft coat of primer. (see the difference with a normal coat on the right “point”)


I used USN Light Ghost Grey by Vallejo # 70615

The next step is added these subtle green tonalities on the lower part of the building.


I used Nato Green primer by Vallejo # 70612

Then I painted a pinwash using a brown glass colour thinned with alcohol. I used the Idea Vetro # 472.

The last step by the moment is a general coat of ink. I used the Brick Red colour by Winsor & Newton # 953.


The colour and the tonalities look much better on real than under those lamps....

Haven't done a 'building ' in ages, maybe I'll scratch up a simple bit of "ruin" in up coming dio but it will have to be small, maybe a bit of wrecked wall or something, I dunno

Nice start Polux, and refreshing to see something other than military stuff too.


I'd love to get hold of that illustrated 'poster' of the various kits, ideas for scratch buildings, or what?
