Hi all i'm doing a northern ireland dio and want to add a car from 1965 /75 era in 1/35 scale . Can anybody advise where to shop please.

Just look on the web, Type in 1/35 and what ever car your looking for Eg Ford Cortina and you should get a few dealers to look at

Hi Ian , chances are you wont find many (if any)uk spec cars in 1/35 . The more common scale for cars was 1/32 , you might find quite a few in this size and the difference in scale shouldnt be noticeable , you can get a mk1 escort or triumph herald from airfix in 1/32 which would fit right in the time period. cheers tony

Just use 1/32 scale. By the time they are blown up or set on fire, no one will notice.

If 1:35 is the scale it must be the only car of the period I can find on Evilbay id this VW Beetle - VOLKSWAGEN TYPE 60 "HERBBIE" BEETLE 1/35 AEROPLAST (VW) | eBay But as the other guys say 1:32 gives you a better stab at getting a range of cars from the era.

!/32 is the most popular scale especially kits from the 60-70's.

There is a guy on e-bay Granada72 who has loads of old 60's Airfix car kits for sale, all 1/32

Thanks amigo I have seen plenty of 1/32 scale cars as you mentioned but wasn't sure how it would sit with a 1/35 scale Land rover . Do you think it would be noticeable with them close together ? I built Mig Jiminez's rusty burnt out car and it looks pretty good but it doesn't look like the kind of car you would have found on the streets of Belfast during that period which is a shame . How did you come by the name of " Yak face " anyway ?

Thanks for your help Tony I appreciate the effort. With regards to your username , I while back I worked at the home of an elderly gent and noticed he had a military tie on. I quizzed him and it turned out he was a Mosquito pilot during WW2 and flew low level recce missions before we gatecrashed France . He was shot down over France once and made it back to England and re joined his Squadron and carried on flying until 45 . I was stunned to hear his story which I practically had to drag out of him. He couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Different class of man . None of my hero's ever appeared on a stamp or ten pound note but I felt lucky and very humble to have met this one .Have a nice weekend chum. Regards Buck

Airfix have a few suitable cars for this period.

eg.

Ford Escort Mk1

Triumph Herald

They did a lot more but most of them are like hens teeth and fetch stupid prices.
