Hi Jakko
Interesting. Is the new owner planning to restore it? Is this the machine that MiniArt do as a kit?
Guard Cat should keep it safe :smiling:

There’s a rarity….a cat on a caterpillar…..it’ll be good when it’s restored….the caterpillar I mean, not the cat :tongue-out3:

Yes, that’s why he bought it. He already had two (!) similar D6s, one of which he suspected to have originally been armoured (so a D6A) but it’s not entirely certain that it was. The intent was to put a reconstructed armoured body on that, but then someone tipped him off that this one existed and the previous owner might be persuaded to sell it. This most definitely was an armoured dozer: all that flat bodywork on it is 22 mm armour plate that has been cut down so it won’t get in the way for civilian use.

Is this the machine that MiniArt do as a kit?
Almost. This is a D6, and MiniArt has several D7 kits. This includes an armoured one, but that’s an American-style armoured dozer. Mirror Models do some D7s as well, including a British-style armoured one. However, the D7 was a bit bigger than the D6. Not enough that you can tell them apart at a glance, so if you want a fairly generic British armoured bulldozer, the Mirror Models kit will do fine.

TBH, I kind of doubt it, given how eager she was to be petted by anyone and everyone who came within arm’s reach :)

She seemed to be quite at home on and around it :)

Definitely. And if I have my way, someone who knows the way around 3D modelling software will do what’s needed to create a kit of the D6A in 1:35 … I mean, I know someone who has not just a real one that we can measure up, but factory drawings of the armoured hull too :) All I need is to find someone who can make the 3D model.

Lovely bit of kit, makes my MiniArt Bulldozer look like it's not chipped enough!

The paint on this one comes off almost by looking at it :)

Really interesting pics and story Jakko - thanks for posting these up...

I took plenty more picture of various details. If there’s interest I can post them too.

I’ll leave them as attachments rather than put them in the message body, so they won’t get loaded at full size right away :)

Now all we need is a model of this vehicle, in any scale :)
