Colin M's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire PR.XIX

Looks interesting Colin. PRU blue Spitfires always look great. That brown and green scheme looks rather out of place on the late mark.

Nice choice of kit - I have the 1/72 kit in the stash. I do actually like the boxart, it makes a nice change from the two tone PRU scheme.

That is a bit odd, I'll have to check the instructions to see if it was a specific thearter of operation. I think the Spitfire's last RAF operational flight was over Malaya, that might have something to do with it ?

I had to look twice at this one Colin when I saw the EE Lightning alongside the Spitfire on the box art. A very interesting scenario.

There’s a story there. I think there was a chance that modern day RAF jet aircraft might encounter Mustangs in Malaya. Therefore Lightnings practiced against Spitfires.

It’s beginning to look a bit Spitfire ish. IMG_3745.webpIMG_3745.webp
The main components are ready to be slapped together. On a test fit, the wing roots don’t look to bad.
The two holes are for the camera, however. I’m pretty sure the instructions are telling me to fit the glass inside. They don’t fit. Luckily, try from the outside, underneath and they are a perfect fit !
