This kit is not as good as previous ICM kits I have built. But, it is the oldest tooling and ICM are well known for how they have improved over the years.

The result is a reasonable model but the poorly designed undercarriage Is quite weak and I don’t expect it to last long.

Barry,
very nice! You don't realise how big it is, until you see it 'in hand'! The problem with the undercarriage is probably that ICM have faithfully reproduced the parts to scale - I've come across this with Zvezda models as well - a part may be true to scale, but it's plastic not a high strength alloy!

You are right in that ‘true to scale’ can often create issues but that is not it with this kit. It is entirely down to the engineering. The legs butt join inside the nacelle and they have to marry up to the cross braces. There are no positive locations on either. It results in a weak join. If I cemented it all together at an earlier stage it would have been easier, but not much stronger and would certainly not have survived handling in one piece.

Looks lovely Barry. I have this one to build at some point - perhaps I should attempt a 'wheels-up' version...

Nice one Barry. Might not be one of their newest but it built up nicely.
Shame about the iffy legs. No aftermarket for them?
Still it looks great.

Hi Barry,

As I said before, this has turned out very well indeed.

Well done but a shame about the undercarriage as you said.

ATB.
