Well home, spent loads of money and had a great day meeting all you guys. I'm glad someone brought a buckett. I hope I can add you guys as friends now on the forum.

I brought my 2cm quad w/crew, all the MR stuff, AK pigments, lots of masking tape and mold for my half track and lorry build.

Aye! 'twere a grand day out and so good to meet folks! It's really good to see the faces behind the models. Also hoping Ron's good advice will help future builds!

Didn't buy so many kits this time but still managed to spend a fortune. Got an A7 Corsair, A10 Thunderbolt and an F8F Bearcat. All in 1/32 which is why I spent so much!

I also missed out on several items on my wish list (1/24 Mossie, 1/32 Arado 196, Su 25, 1/35 S boat etc. etc. etc.), but only 'cos I haven't picked the right six numbers yet! Maybe next time.

Have to agree, a brilliant day, and great to put a couple of faces to the names.Attendees were -myself obviously! spanner 570 ,gern , slupanter and colin m , plus mrs ron and alex's dad Great to see a couple of my old muckers from last year (shame scott (noble)couldnt make it this year)I managed to control myself and only bought 3 kits!! A 1/48 monogram devastator for £10 ( an oldie but goodie!), a fujimi aichi b7 'grace' in 1/72, £5 and a 1/48 monogram tbd avenger ( an old school monogram, good exterior details but very little inside! ) for the princely sum of £3!!! All this and free entry to one of the best collections of aircraft in the country and a sunny day to boot! heres to the next one! cheers tony

Yes, great to see you all there, and didn't Ron and Mrs Ron have a great evening for camping out. My spending was very restrained, a 1:72 Matchbox Lysander which has good external detail considering this kit is from about 1974 ! Hannants did have a 1:48 Lysander - £39.99, I left it there ! And then a very early Airfix Steerling, with bomb tractor although I haven't confirmed all the bits are there yet. This kit is so old the instructions look like they're written on parchment.

Hi Colin. It was nice to see you yesterday. I remember building the Stirling way back when I still wore short trousers - a very long time ago! I got it as a special xmas or birthday pressie if memory serves me right and it was my first BIG kit so I really enjoyed it - apart from all the bombs. There's LOTS of them! Although I didn't do it at the time, cleaning up the seams is going to be fun! Still, it makes an impressive model when built and if you want a Stirling I think this is the only one there is. Enjoy.

Yo fellas, we have just arrived home after spending the night in the middle of nowhere besides the Shropshire Union Canal, taking wine and eating sausage and onion buns...Oh, and listening to mallards trying to screw each other most of the night!!!! All good fun...

As everyone has said it was great to see members 'old and new' and good to meet Alex's dad, great bloke. Cracking day all round, thanks boys.

I did bring a bucket with S.M. on it, but she threatened me with dire actions if I wore it on my nut!

I bought a Bf109G, a Zero A6M5 and another Bf109E-4/7 Trop. All 1/48 for £18.

When I met the wife she said "Did you keep back enough for the camp fees tonight?"

Daft question. "Course I didn't" sez I..... Not very smart, eh?

Luckily there was a garage open with a hole in the wall right opposite Cosford airfield, so leisure points were not deleted....

A special thanks to gern for the legitimate supply of stirring sticks and to yakface for the birthday pack of jaffa cakes for me, gern and Scott (Who sadly couldn't be with us)

Anyway, thanks again boys for a cracking day out.

I am sorry I never got to see you at the end. I only got to hanger 2 as they were packing up still manged to spend on 1:35 2cm quad, AK pigs and Foilage.

Aaaahhhh! Mystery solved. It's OK Ron, anybody can miscount. I was just having visions that you'd maybe hidden away the missing £1 for a wild spending spree at Coventry that your missus wasn't to know about! :lol

It does remind me of an old maths puzzle though.

Three students go to a restaurant for a meal. The total bill comes to £30 which they pay equally between them. After they have gone the restaurant manager realises they are students and decides to take pity on them. He gives one of his waiters £5 and asks him to chase after the students and give it to them. The waiter is greedy and only gives the students £3 and keeps the other £2 for himself.

As the students only paid £9 each for the meal that makes £27. The waiter had £2 which makes a total of £29. What happened to the other £1?

Well right then, look at the problem another way. The students paid £25 for their meal (£30 - £5 returned by the manager) The waiter (with low morals) gives them £1 each (total of £3) and keeps £2 for himself. So £25 + £3 + £2 = £30...............But, the figures in the question make sense as well ??? but don't add up...

It's all in the wording of the question. I said the students paid £27 for their meal - but they didn't. They paid out a total of £27, but NOT for the meal. As Colin says, they only paid £25 for the meal and £2 for the waiter.

You got it Andy. That's one of the reasons that a lot of folks find maths difficult. The language we use to teach it is not the language of mathematics.

haha operator precedence, something that is VERY important in programming (my profession on and off for the last 25 years) especially in mathematical modelling. Do you remember the fuss last year about the University of East Anglia Climate "Science" unit leaks? The media was obsessed about the emails and what they said. What was more devastating but was too complicated for them to cover was the source code of their modelling software and data sets that were exposed. I took part in a review of some parts of the code. I spent several years working for BP Research converting software written by scientists into software suitable to be used by others. Most scientists are amateur programmers and boy does it show! One of the most astounding things we discovered in the climate model software was the terrible flaws and operator precedence was one of them. The code was truly awful and it was the main reason I am now a "climate sceptic" since it looks like these people actually don't know what they are doing, so how can you take their pronouncements and prophesies seriously! (hence my use of quotes around the "Science" earlier...)
