discussion Eduard overtrees, am I in the minority?

Hello All,

I've only been doing this hobby properly since Jun last year but it really has gotten a grip of me.

Although I am struggling to control the increase of my stash, one thing always inflates it and that's over-trees from Eduard. The quality of the models is fantastic and for those who don't know, over-trees are only available from Eduard directly. They are supplied as sprues only in plain cardboard boxes without decals or instructions (which are available through the website) and a quarter to one fifth the price of a profipack. I have a tendency to buy four over-trees and a profipack with some brassin, practice on the over-trees and then aim to do the profipack, 'properly'. Trust me, with my technical level properly is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I was just wondering how many of us, with our piles of grey plastic did this or if I am the missing link here lol

I've never heard of them. Sounds like a good way to get extra parts at a bargain price though.

I’ve neve4 done it, but do appreciate the idea. In effect, a Profipak leaves quite a lot of spare decals, so buying a set of over trees gives you a cheap weekend kit. What’s not to like?

True, although I do make my own decals as well (obviously not as good) by scanning the Eduard decals and using some diluted Solvaset (this stuff is rocket fuel). Note of caution when using Solvaset, use it diluted - the undiluted solution will actually destroy the decals (yup - found that one out the hard way lol).

Aah the struggle of the young padawan

Ive never done it cos im not a lover of doing the same kit twice....... The thought of finishing a kit and then buying 4 more just to use up the decals seems strange to me
