Hi guys,

Does anybody know if Humbrol enamel thinner will dissolve Tamiya TS Sprays? The sprays are lacquer-based. I am considering the sprays because i have serious problems with my airbrush. I have also read about enamel weathering techniques and I want to try them out. Do I need a clear coat or any sealant? I know Future Floor Wax Works, but can Clear do the same job?

Thanks

Adrian

Sorry Adrian, can't help you with the enamel questions as I don't use them that often. it does sound as though the thinner will dissolve the Tamiya sprays though if they are lacquer based.

One thing I do know though is that Future is simply the American name for Johnson's Clear - they are the same thing. However Johnson's Clear is now reformulated and is sold under the new name 'Pledge Multi Surface Wax'. Apparently it does the same job but looks a bit cloudy in the bottle but is fine when applied (I haven't used the new formula yet though).

Hope you get all your other answers

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for that Paul, really useful. I thought that they were two different things. So in other words, Clear is Future floor wax and Future floor wax does the job, so Clear works?

Actually my plan is to do a dot filter using Humbrol Enamel paints and for that I need thinner. My concern is that the thinner will eat through the protective coat and ruin the base coat. Will that happen?

Thanks again Paul.

The new Pledge Klear works a treat, looks a bit milky, but when applied dries a treat!

I just read on the Tamiya site that the sprays are "not affected by enamel or acrylic paints". Does this apply to enamel/acrylic thinner as well?
