I've been a member for years at ML but it's not the site it use to be.They ran off just about all the common modelers with their greater than thou attitudes.I read it every day but never post there anymore.

Agreed ref ML. From reviewing a few threads it has too narrow a view of modelling for me. Also seems to have a lot of an attitude that a good friend of mine calls “fat blokes in black tee shirts”. Basically being dismissive of the less than perfect and thinking this stuff is life or death important. It isn’t, it’s what I do to get away from real world life or death stuff. I admire that attitude to modelling, but grew away from it years ago..if I was on there any length of time I would start butting heads, which isn’t enjoyable for me or the other site members.
This site has a wide mix of subjects, and has some really talented modellers, so it’ll do me thanks.....
If Simon keeps the old site up perhaps with a change of name I’ll probably post in both. The old site will be for nostalgia, but I will stay on this one because I like the ethos it projects.
Cheers
Tim

This is all very interesting, what I found amusing was this... 'The website www.militarymodelling.com will be closing at the end of this month and going forward, Military Modelling will be included within the pages of Model Military International. If you wish to re-register for the forum on the new website, please follow this link: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/mis...register&sid=7186ddaf3a1f39d687cc747d594804ff '
hahaha!
We're sheep all being herded into the missing lynx pen.
Going forward... hahaha! more like going down the toilet.
With all their rivet counters at Missing Lynx there are some poorly researched/bad models in their gallery.
I'm with you John, the best people are here.

I registered there when I found out the news not the most welcoming bunch I have to say. Not like when we moved over to here or started on milmod and everyone seemed happy to see us

Another ex-Military Modelling magazine reader here, seeking rehabilitation from the shocking demise of that magazine.

Real shame about MM - never joined the forum but will make amends now!! Also cancelled my subscription certainly not being forced onto another magazine!

Got to agree, ML isn't a warm and happy place from what I have seen so far.
I get a good feeling here and I can "work" the bits too, which is a plus at my level of interweb incompetence.
I have a small family at PP, who are close, but this has the feel of something to build on.
I shall inflict my work on everyone, soon, as I tend to be a weekend poster after doing bits during the week
It always seems to build or blog, never both and occasionally neither, if its been a heavy week at work.
More soon?
Regards
Steve H

Welcome Simon Stuart oh and Stephen, you just crept in then . :thumb2:
Back to the conversation,
I ain't going anywhere but here.

Hi Guys,
I've just contacted Doolittle............................. I feel sorry for the poor people that are answering the phone. As I've just renewed my subscription to the magazine, ( Late March) I particularly do not want copies of a magazine that I have not subscribed to. I'm not being pedantic I just would like something that I have chosen to buy. The young chap I spoke to did not know how subscriptions will be reimbursed. They were told on Friday that be prepared for a lot of phone calls as the magazine had been taken over.

I'll be staying here, been made very welcome, cheers guys.

I'm staying too!!! My only concern is the loss of all the blogs, past GB pics and reference material being dumped. I know a few old members are trying to save as much as possible and I hope they are successful. If it should somehow be resurrected, Then I will split my works between the two. I feel very welcomed here and am so happy that they aren't upset anymore about that little tea party up in Boston just over 300 years ago.......

Well as every body is having a say.:smiling2:
I am not a top modeler and maybe never will, but the support I have had on here with modeling and over my eye is what makes me want to stay among some of the nicest people I have ever met .
john .

John, All we want is to stick plastic with plastic, enjoy doing it and share our work. Also to try and improve our builds

Cheers Mike :sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

I will not join the MilMod Lounge on ML. If the old MilMod rises from the ashes, in whatever form, I will not go back. I only have the time to be part of one forum. Personally I would rather give the 'screen' time I have to play an active role on one forum than try to split what time I have between two or more. The members of MilMod, the subscribers to the magazine and the magazine staff and contributors have been treated appallingly. I have been made most welcome here, I'm getting used to how the forum works and a whole load of my friends, you lot, have moved here.
I am quite a happy bunny :smiling:
Jim

Well, that's a pitty Jim, because to me, since 2010, you were in important and integral part of the old forum. But I can understand ^^.

Cheers

I feel the same as Jim. I will not go back to Mil Mod if it resurfaces in another form. I appreciate all of the work that's going in to trying to save the info, but I think it's a dead duck and that we should just get over it. As with most of you, it was big part of my life, but I quickly realised it was the people that mattered, and since we have stayed together, and gained new friends to boot, what's the problem? This is a fine site, and I too am very happy here. I also think that it's discourteous in the least to talk of going back.

as a non MM member im finding this thread an interesting read

you wont find any rivet counting going on here unless you specifically ask for it in 'critique corner'......and personally im allergic to rivet counters

you will find SM simply a place for people who want to build models for the enjoyment of it......dosnt matter what your skill level is, as long as you have fun thats the important thing......theres always someone to help or advise, never put down or humiliate.......i aint the greatest modeller in the world, after all these years i still learn something new with every kit i do, but i do it for me, not any one else

i hope a lot of you stay and integrate with us, and become established members and enjoy your time here
It already feels like home thanks to the great welcome we’ve received on arrival and also being surrounded by the MM regulars. With the diversity your site offers we get to see other forms of modelling with different techniques to learn from. Long may it continue.

My MM log-in doesn't give me access as of 5pm my time in Ohio, so I'm here for the foreseeable. PaulE
