Fw 190 D-11 "Red 2" of the famous Parrot Squadron ("Sachsenbergschwarm"), Hasegawa 1/32
Hi folks!!!
Latest news from my workbench: now I have completed with the fifth "Dora" of my "Sachsenbergschwarm" in 1/32 scale. This is the "Red 2", a D-11, probably flown by Bodo Dirschauer. The available information on this character of the "Platzschutzstaffel" is not available in more than poor, so I oriented myself in the construction of the other Doras. It is clear that it was a D-11.
As basic kit the Hasegawa model was used. For the conversion of the D-9 to D-11 I went back to the appropriate change set of Montex.
Most obvious differences were in the engine (the D-11 had the Jumo 213F) and the armament. The D-11 had a powerful armament in the wings. Besides the two 20mm MK in the wing roots two MK 108 were installed in the wings.
The model was painted with colors of Vallejo, Gunze, Revell and Model Master. The weathering: washing with diluted oilpaint and use of various pastels. The plume was brushed here with "Transparent Smoke" from Alclad. I just got oriented there on Faber's "Red 13" which also had ordinary plumes on the hull sides, which was probably due to the decreased fuel quality. Plastic barrels of 20mm guns have replaced with cannulas and the antenna wire is made of nylon yarn.
Finally it was sealed with a matte clearcoat
This project had a lot of fun (also thanks to the excellent quality of the Hasegawa kit) and I think not everyone can claim to have a complete unit built in 1/32 scale ....... hihihihihihihihi !!!! !!
Cheers
