Hi Everyone,

I have just joined this forum and look forward to sharing comments with you all. I am 59 years old, was born in the North East of England and have been a permanent resident in Canada for 15 years. I was an avid modeller as a child but left the hobby behind with my teens, work, family, travel, etc all took a priority. Now things are slowing down a bit and I have some time on my hands I have re-kindled my enthusiasm to sit with the radio on, studying plans & photographs, sanding, painting, applying decals, weathering, etc into the wee hours of the morning.

I'm sure there is a lot for me to learn here and I will soon be posting pics and asking questions throughout my builds. I am just about to embark on a 1/72 Revell Lancaster BIII (Dambusters Edition), SKU 04295. I see some members have already taken on this kit so I will be sure to reference their posts as I go along.

Anyway, that's it for now, just wanted to check in and introduce myself. Happy modelling to you all!

Kindest regards
John (Psiclops)

Welcome to the forum, John.

I built this version of the Lancaster.
The only problem I had with the kit was the fitting of the 'Bouncing Bomb'' fuselage replacement belly section.

Otherwise it was a nice kit.
Enjoy your time with us and have fun....I do!

Cheers.
Ron

A warm welcome to the forum, John. I look forward to seeing how you get on with the Lancaster.

Welcome John. Look forward to seeing some of your work. I did the Revell Lanc many years ago. For some reason, I think it was the bodge I made on filling the top seam line, it got condemmed to the shelf of doom. However during Covid Lockdown it was resurected and completed. Here is a little B & W of the model. Enjoy the build of a very classic aircraft.

Hi and welcome John. A nice Lancaster is on my list of models that I want to build.
Like you I'm newly returned to this hobby after a 40+ year absence! I did build a Lanc when I was a kid, but back in the day I just slapped them together and rushed any paint job, no weathering, etc. So they were a bit of a bodge back then. Now I tend to be a bit more considered and make more of an effort, but mine are still far from perfect.
If you look through some of the folks previous builds on here, there are some seriously talented modeller here! (I'm not one of them, but I enjoy my modelling anyway just as a relaxing pastime).
I look forward to hearing about your builds and maybe seeing some photos too.
Enjoy this hobby mate..... 8-)

Hi John

I'm another ex pat residing in Canada for the last 35 years. I'm in Quebec, where did you settle in?

Welcome to the forum by the way.

John

Hi John, I'm sure you'll have fun on here. Don't hesitate to ask questions, but don't ask me, as I don't really do plastic kits!
