Cheers Guys hopefully I will have some more time to finish those belts.

Those seatbelts look good. Must try those myself instead of Eduard's.

Nice build Vaughan, good kits these Hassy FW190

Thanks Guys, Barry the belts are a definite improvement on PE belts.

I'm still working on the lap belts and have been experimenting, by using the pilot provided, with the shoulder straps so I get them the right length. I'm unsure how the belts locate behind the pilot, are they attached to the seat or the shelf behind does anyone have some photos? In the mean time I've made a start on masking the canopy by using thin strips of Tamiya tape method. The amour-plated headrest has been painted and decals added.

Will you be filling in the areas inside the strips with liquid masking or by pieces of Tamiya tape? Which gets the best result?

Steve I usually use Taymia Tape to fill in. I find that using the thin strips of tape better to start off with than putting tape over the canopy and then cutting the tape directly on the canopy less chance of making mistakes. Hope this helps.

Just caught up Vaughan. Very nice stuff going on here.

Small update as have not had much time for modelling over the last 10 days. I finished masking the canopy and it has been sprayed RLM66 followed by RLM74. The head rest has been added plus some weathering. Next step will be to start on the wings before I close the fuselage so I can establish if the fit at the wing roots will require some extra work.

Er.. What are RLMs please? I can't find any mention of them.
RLM was a code used by the german air ministry to dtermine the planes from classes, squadrons ETC. you can find paints matched to the series through different manufactrurs

Nearly. RLM is simply an abbreviation for Reichsluftfahrtministerium, which translates as Reich Air Ministry. This oversaw all aircraft production and RLM paints are simply ministry approved paints. The number (66,74,75 etc) is the code for the colour.

Any descriptive names, such as you will see even in aircraft handbooks produced by the manufacturers, are unofficial.

It was the RLM that approved designations for various aircraft. For example the Bachem "Natter" only became the Ba 349 after Himmler leant on the RLM to adopt the project and give it an official designation. It always remained essentially an SS enterprise.

Cheers

Steve
