Blimey Jim you have just turned me instantly, it was the steak , into a vegetarian. o_O
Laurie
Sad to hear Laurie though believe it or not but my cholesterol levels have always been fine, it seems smoking was the culprit. The tar in the cigs makes the side walls of your arteries sticky, thus the fat build up. It's a known fact that the lack of animal fats in the diet starves the brain of vital nutrients {not in any way knocking vegetarians} hence logic and other mental functions can suffer. One prominent WW2 leader comes to mind who was a "veggie" though of course I won't mention the name. Oh by the way I immediately quit the "devils sticks" after my incident four years ago;)

All the best with your recovery, I hope never to go through that but my god that's a story to tell - the best bit being that you can still tell it! Keep us updated with your progress, as you well know, everyone here will genuinely be interested and want to hear that your on the mend. :)

Here's to a speedy recovery Vaughan.

I've done the veggie thing, chicken and bacon won!

I haven't had any nicotine for 6 years.

Best wishes

Lee :)

Had a near fatal medical reaction, and it was really critical. I took around $60000 worth of immunoglobulin (Australian government paid for it thank God) to keep my immune system working to keep me alive. I came out of hospital a month later, but it was a painful experience (though undoubtedly, a heart attack is a lot more sudden and a lot worse) and it took me s year to get back to normal life. However, it has been a motivation for me, as I now try to do more and more with my life, helping others and stuff like that-when you have your life nearly taken away then you try to make the most of the time you have.

Although I have never had a heart attack, I think I know how you feel. Hope you fully recover mate, and take it easy.

John

H****r. Famously corrected his fighter pilots, Galland Luetzow and Nowotny to give up that "disgusting habit" however, didn't seem to help his health being a veggie- had stress disorders, mental health nerve problems etc.

Interesting facts about animal fats, I do drink milk and eat cheese as a source of protein although I have cut back on the cheese to help keep my cholesterol down.

Oh my god, Laurie that news is such a shock! I can only add to the pile of well wishes and hope you have a speedy and full recovery.

I hope the medicines keep everything in check and you're back to your old self soon.

All the very, very best

Many notions about cholesterol have been de-bunked, good chol, bad chol etc.. while I am certainly no expert on the matter I think "Big Pharma" jumps on any popular band wagon they can and then wind up with class action lawsuits:oops: What brought us out of the trees and into "mankind" for lack of a better term was first scavenging from other predators and then eventually learning to hunt on our own which only the eating of meat to develop brain growth and advancement made possible. In early man and even today in many primitive cultures the animals fat and bone marrow {highly concentrated fat} are the most prized portions of the carcass. Whether or not we should have ever come down from the trees at all is the real question seeing how us "civilized" beings have botched the works so far:oops:................Jim:)

Sorry to hear about the very bad situation Vaughan but even more happy to hear your well on the mend.

All the best mate

Hell Vaughan, that's some story. Glad to see you back making a recovery.

Well I'm back with a bit of modelling. I've picked up on the dauntless, I didn't realise that it's nearly a year ago that I made a post on the build. Anyway I will try and keep this one going although saying that the Airacobra is still sitting there waiting to be completed so maybe I will alternate between the two.

Sorry I missed this thread earlier Vaughan during my brief visits. Sorry to hear about your experience, but glad you are getting better and building again.
