HI Guys after advice please what are the best twezzers with grips at the ends to hold small parts so they dont go pinging off in to space any ideas ?

I think Ron advised gluing a small piece of abrasive paper inside the tips of his tweezers to give a better grip.

I put a scrap of blue tack in mine, or just use blue tack on a wood cocktail stick instead of tweezers. The problem I find with tweezers is that it seems logical to squeeze them harder to get better grip, but that doesn’t work. The harder you squeeze, the more energy you put into them, and the farther the part flies…..holding them gently together is the trick, but I still prefer a cocktail stick and blue tack….. However, if you really want good tweezers, look at jewellery tool suppliers and look for tweezers used to handle diamonds. After all, who’d want to ping them off into the ether….

The theory is that any tweezers that do not twist can hold things without launching them into near earth orbit as long as you are not squeezing the life out of the object you're holding.
The cross grips Peter posted are great for holding things for longer times but for general working, I find them awkward to use.

In my experience Ian, it’s not twisting that causes the problem, it’s the arms of the tweezer being bowed inwards, turning them into devices to launch parts into the atmosphere.

Plenty here Chris, don’t need to cost the earth….. https://www.shesto.co.uk/Products/SearchProduct?searchstring=tweezers#1

Proops are a good tool factor as well…. https://www.proopsbrothers.com/index.asp?function=search

Sometimes locking forceps (also called Spencer Wells forceps) are more useful. I found them essential for soldering…. https://www.proopsbrothers.com/forc...-old-new-stock-not-perfect--s7915-14376-p.asp

None of this stuff will break the bank, but it’s worth looking outside of the hobby field for good tools sometimes….
