Apologies in advance for the boasting but my partner Aileen's son-in-law, Kyle, has become well known on the Highland Games circuit up here in Scotland and beyond. This Daily Record article explains quite a bit about his progress in the Highland Games.

I took this photo a few years ago but it gives you a good idea of the size of a caber!

This year he has retained the Glenfiddich title for top Scotsman and can clinch the overall title too (all nationalities) if he gets enough points at the Braemar Gathering today (3rd September 2022) and Aileen and her daughters are up there supporting him today.

Talking of which, if you are curious as to what goes on at a Highland Games event, there is a live stream of the Braemar Gathering at:
https://vimeo.com/event/2371412

Unfortunately, Kyle has taken part in four events so far and I haven't caught a glimpse of him yet! He has come first in one event, second in two more with a fourth underway as I write this.

Warning, if you find bagpipes annoying, you may need to hit the mute button or put some cheese in your ears a la 'Allo 'Allo!

Looks like Kyle made the Royals happy today. Here he is collecting the Glenfiddich Scottish Highland Games Trophy for overall Highland Games Champion 2022 that follows his Scottish Champion trophy that he got a few weeks ago. Apologies for the crap photo but it was a shot of the TV in my modelling den:

Congratulations to your son in law. I used to enjoy going to a few of the local games when I lived in Scotland.

When we lived in Scotland we went to a couple of the smaller games. Those guys are very skilled, very strong and fit and mostly very big.
Big congrats to Kyle.

Wow impressive indeed.Strong fellas. There are a few tossers i know where i live of a different kind.
Great stuff.

Well after reading and watching the video the Committee were of the opinion that Kyle deserves an honorary Dogs Dave .

When I lived in Forres the Highland Games were a fun day out. Every town along the coast would have theirs on different weekends. Happy days.

Well done to your laddie.

When we lived in Scotland we went to a few smaller, local games. Even though minor compared to Braemar some of the performances were incredible.
Well done Kyle. You must be very proud.
