So, there I was at 41 Squadron's open day at Coningsby, displaying my 1/48 41 Squadron collection, when a man comes up to me and asks if I would make a model of his dad's aeroplane for him. Sure, I say - what was it? He sent me a load of photos - his dad soloed on a Meteor F4, serial VT332, whilst with 203 Advanced Flying School at RAF Driffield in 1950. We agreed to go large - this is the HK Models 1/32 Meteor F4. Finished with different shades of Alclad Aluminium (normal/dark/white/duralinium), and then the roundels and codes sprayed on using Miracle Masks to match his dad's jet. Despite its size, it's an easy build, with very few parts; goes together very well, with excellent surface detail. The only addition was Eduard seat belts.
One very happy customer - he gave the finished model to his mum for her birthday (his dad sadly passed away last year)
