Hi guys , I`m a very chuffed Dad my oldest son Oli he`s 10 has got on my case today and want`s to make a proper model , he has a big interest in military stuff mainly ww2, he`s always watching the military channel on discovery,

for his 1st model he said he would like to make a ww2 tank , this is where I need advice - what scale and make would you recommend thats easy , although I will be with him all the way I plan to only clean up the bits cut off the sprues and give advice , also to keep everyone happy in the family is there a tank that you can snap together because Samuel my other boy who`s 4 wants to be involved also.

I need advice for kits guys ,

Cheers

Hi Richy.

Great news. three of my four grandsons 8,9 & 10 years I started on model making.

Great enthusiasm but they have a limited attention span. I started them with 1/72 as this is less complicated. They see the model going together quickly & want to get onto the paint stage & decals as soon as possible.

Best I concluded to keep the detail of interiors etc until they are a bit older.

One thing dress in rubbish clothes as they will be at the end of a painting session. They have a determined resolution to apply paint rather as an Oil artist with a spatula. Thick to very thick.

Add that I kept instruction to a minimum & did not interfer unless they wanted & asked for help.

Cool! I hope that he gets bitten! I Look forward to seeing what it turns out like.

Hi richy , great to hear weve got a couple more modellers! I recall a while back , Ron did a thread on the 1/72 Italeri quick build tiger , these would be ideal , only about £6 and you get 2 in the box ! or an alternative would be any of the Armourfast kits - again 1/72 , about £6 or £7 and 2 in the box. Dont forget to post us some pics of the apprentices at work!! Cheers tony
