I will stick at it and with the money saved I could buy an ugly stick rod, one which I have been looking at.

Nope, you lost me, my one foray into fishing was when an old neighbour and a couple of his mates took me when I was on leave, they were trout fishing. I soon got bored and wandered of and found an outlet pipe with all these fish around it, so off came the socks and shoes and in I waded and was soon tickling trout bellies and flicking them onto the bank. Then along came the warden and asked what I was doing - fishing, came the reply - you fish with a rod, said he, show me a bear with a fishing rod and I will buy one - confiscated all my b****y fish.....I have just ordered the Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 spinning rod.
It is basically a light lure rod which I intend to use with fake baits.Ralph.
means nothing to me! Drowning maggots was never one of my pastimes. I only ever fished in the Tropics, where bright lights hung over the side of your anchored ship attracted the fish at night. It wasn't a question of whether you would catch a fish, but if you could get in on deck before it was chomped by something bigger! King Klip & Tuna were welcome, often going from sea to frying pan in less than 20 mins! ( We'll skip over the moray eels, sea snakes, and other nameless horrors that were hooked! )
You Will Win

Cheers Dave.Good going Ralph
I’m assuming it’s a nice rod, the only fishing I have ever done was after Mackerel with a long line with about 50 hooks on it. Eating them for weeks.
