I need just a few days to clear the bench and make a bit of room and I will crack open the box and pop a few pictures up. Might be an idea with a wide angle lens for this one!
Going to be pretty much OOB as well but then I have said that Sooooooooooo many times LOL.
(Nope skint, behave).
So here is the box. The hull is 2cm shorter than the box.View attachment 272178
The thing I need most is a bulk pack of Grey and erm.... Grey paint. lol

Sweet lordy, that's a biggun! Can't wait to seee the box contents!!

That's just the sort of box I like to buy at the shows!

Alas, I won't be getting any of Trumpeter's big ships until they open a spares/replacement department. I'm not going to risk spending in excess of £200 on a kit which may be unbuildable because of damaged/missing parts.

That won't stop me watching your build with jealous eyes though!

You had a great idea there Ian, as big as your build!!!
Good luck mister ;)

Wow now that's what you call a kit.
Hope you got the time and space for this one Ian.
When you thinking of starting this monster and good luck with it

Well I have the room for it. I built a cupboard after the kit was brought. The box fits so.....
As to when i will start? I have a Phantom and a Leopard to build for two other GB's..... We will have to see.
I hope to be able to build the Canoe alongside these but I do have a year. My plan is a month or two to build and paint and the rest of the time doing the rigging...:D:eek:

I certainly don't intend sticking to the Bismarck until completion in one go. I am lining up projects to build alongside it, I will need to do it in stages but I hope to break its back in the next few cold dark months before I start wanting to get out with my camera in the summer.

A very wise move Graham and one that I will be joining.
Right the bit you are all waiting for: Whats in that bloody great box! Well more boxes! lolView attachment 272341
The white one at the top encases the hull. Firm foam rubber blocks to protect the bow and stern! nice
The box to the left, all the deck and the larger superstructures, the middle one all the fiddly bits on the decks, the right-hand one The rather large cannon turrets and the ships boats.
The Hull:

Sorry about the pictures the sun was blasting the room full belt and I had to result to drastic measures! lol
Did we establish that the hull is huge.

Nice clean mouldings and Loads of bits. I will be posting photos of the sprues as I take them into use, so you can get a better look.
Box C.View attachment 272344 View attachment 272355 View attachment 272356
Plenty of PE to bugger I mean bend up.
View attachment 272357
Bit of rivet detail on the funnels....

Cannon turrets! Hmm all six of them.....?
And finally:

The metal barrels and a few miles of rigging thread....
So there you have it. A big box full of little boxes, full of plastic....
The instruction book is clear and simple. Even if the call the aft decks for rear decks!

As to when I will make a start. I have chosen to do Bob's modern armour GB first as that will be the simplest, then start Ricks Phantom and leap into this while waiting for bits of the Phantom to set up or dry.

Great kit Ian. I'm looking forward to seeing this come together. I've got the equally big Bismarck on order and I will post once I get round to building her.
I'm sure this will be a very impressive build.

Good luck
P

Now the Hood wow what a monster ( really ) she is such a beautiful ship and that's going to look soooo bloomin good.
Best of luck Ian
I saw Grahams brute the other day and it seriously made me think of getting a ship ( Prince of Wales / King George V or even the Tirpitz/ Scharnhorst!! I've never built a ship ever!!
I'll be watching this one with eager eyes

Kind regards

Robert
