Scale Model Shop

Ian M's Motor Yacht Bruma 1/43 scale Panart.

I just realised that I have failed to post an image of what it is I am actually building
Thank you, I nearly resorted to google. That is a mountain of bits and pieces you have there, I mean just a box of plastic can confuse me.
But look at you, steaming along with your build. I'm an aircraft builder and normally say 'flying along' thank you for this opportunity to use 'steaming'.

Here is a question that maybe boatman can help with.
I can only get Stern tubes and axels as a set from Billings Boats. The first time I have used this brand. They need 'assembly'. No instructions to be found anywhere. Not even with Billings. Do you know them at all Chris.
I think the way is to cut both parts to the correct length, Insert the axel in the tube, then press the ends on. Is that about right.
A new pair are on the way as things did not go too well with the first pair. At a tenner each, I don't want to waste too many of them.

HI Ian sorry but im not quite sure what you are referrin to. Do you mean the propshafts tubes an the inner shaft ? as i dont know why you need to cut them at all as in the ends of the prop tube they should have brozne fusper bearins to stop the water gettin up the shaft an no ive never used a billings kit an propshafts i always buy them seperate as mine are 18 to 20inches long an the dont need cutin as this is what has got me fogged about what you are tryin to do ?

Just found this (sorry) with all the upset (flood and new floor) I haven't been on the forum as much as I normally do. The build is looking great and coming along quickly very nice progress Ian :)

Quick? Thank you, you would have it in the bath by now lol. It is an easy kit to build.

Just collected a pack or two: both for this thing...

First are the new propshafts, lets see if I can butcher those as well. Preferably not.
next up are some slightly better lanterns.

The only problem with internet shopping. The size is hard to picture, even though there is a drawing with dimensions. Might save them for something else and find some more when at the shop...
They were as cheap as chips so no real issue.
This on the other hand was not cheap but cheaper than normal

Cuts wood and plastic strip real easy. AND SQUARE! yay! Very solid and very well made.

There was a bit of veneer as well but didn't bother with a picture of that. 😯

Thanks for the comments so far chaps. Man flu is winning today big time and I am glad for the support.. 😷😴🤧

A bit done yesterday and today.

A bit of sanding and some sealer and she'll be right.

Now I have started to 'dress' the outside of the cabin. They say paint it white.... I say TEAK please. If it looks naff I can always paint it.

All good fun. Still.

Nice work Ian, teak is looking way better than white paint for sure! 🪚 lovely deck-pattern you got there, Cheers

Can't beat real wood. Great blog. Remember the smell of varnish. Don't think you can get the real stuff in the states anymore.

Thanks Steve. I was going to do a teak deck with white cabin. I am more inclined to do the cabin teak and the decks in a light wood.

I dont think much or the stuff you can get here In Denmark either, But For the sake of a model there is always a 2k finish.

Just spent a couple of hours fitting propshafts. Serious grief! BUT they are in and they turn. I even greased them lol. Big mistake lol.
I shan't be touching anything that needs either paint or glue the rest of the day!

Ian,
Wheel house looks fantastic, sand it, seal it, the true beauty of wood. Will look stunning 👍.
